Flame Dragon
Subs for 73 are up. Was fine, but pretty empty in terms on content. Still, its pretty amazing how Eureka just goes with the flow. Serena being embarrassed on stage was also funny due to what she was doing being very similar to what she did for her contest thingy. Only other thing was Valerie's weird speech pattern. Can't remember if that was in the games or not.

Can't remember if that was in the games or not. I played X so the answer is no. Still, I'm watching the sub now. The dub will probably give her the same accent. Not sure if she's Kansai or Osakan. But I think for a good English Dub VA, I think... Lisa Ortiz already got Korrina so can't use her... Veronica Taylor is on the west coast so she's out, as is Tara Sands, So maybe... and this is a guess, Laura Bailey.
Flash Flyer - Sakura
Valerie had a regular speech pattern in-games, but yeah she's a bit stranger in the anime. It could be the subber's interpretation, but she did tend to use more of an informal tone with words ("my" -> "mah", "you" -> "yah" or something along those lines). Probably Kansai or something; then again, it's not like I can tell the difference between regional dialects. (If I ever learn Japanese properly, it'll likely be standard Tokyo for comprehension purposes; even though some regional stuff does sound cool. A bit off-topic, but yeah) At least the furisode girls didn't turn out evil like I initially thought during the preview. They just needed replacements for the two models who apparently didn't show up for whatever reason. It's too bad for Shota that he had to learn the hard way about Fairies and Dragons; Ash probably should remember from episode 47 (or whichever one Wigglytuff and Salamence appear). ---- Ash will likely win next episode; indeed, it'll be amusing to see what each of them uses for their 3rd Poke. I would say that Valerie uses her XY team, but Spritzee isn't on it so that's out of the question (comparing her potential 'mons in the anime against whatever she uses during XY). ~British Soul~
Y'know, when I first watched the episode, I didn't realise that Team Rocket wasn't present at all. I wouldn't be surprised if the events at the end of the previous episode contributed to their non-appearance here, but that's a silly thought. New episode title Episode 882: A Fierce Fight at the Pokeball Factory! Pikachu vs Meowth!! (June 25th) Yeah, the Pokeball Factory will appear, but by the looks of things, it has nothing to do with Team Flare. I would say that Valerie uses her XY team, but Spritzee isn't on it so that's out of the question (comparing her potential 'mons in the anime against whatever she uses during XY). The thing is though, her entire XY team was shown in the episode (Mawile, Mr Mime, Sylveon), so 2/3 of the pokemon she'll use in the battle would be what she uses in game. Astro Dude
Ugh, another one. I bet team rocket will also be responsible for the blizzard in Frost Cavern.
~British Soul~
> That's implying the writers can't think of something more original than what you just said. I mean it's not like blizzards don't occur naturally or anything. EDIT (Thursday): Blah blah blah, Ash wins badge 6 blah. Turns out it was only a 2-on-2 fight and it was another Team Rocket-less episode.
Astro Dude
Yeah, not something we expected, but Fairy-types are new so we can't judge. Anyway, next stop is Anistar City. Kinda wonder if Olympia can see Ash coming to her.
~British Soul~
That's a while away though. Meanwhile a new title appeared: Episode 883: Braixen and Pancham! (July 2nd) This episode focus on Serena's next Pokemon Showcase and the return of Miette, the Slurpuff trainer. So they're really going to use her even after what happened to her seiyuu? Wonder who's going to replace her. And that's fine after that mess has finally come to an end. Ash adopted a weird tactic in today's episode.
He used Hawlucha's X-Scissor to shatter Spritzee's Trick Room, reasoning that, since it's a Psychic move, it should be weak to Bug-type attacks. I'm a bit disappointed they didn't bring up the fact that Fire-types resist Fairy moves - at least that's what it appears to be the case, since I don't recall them mentioning Fire-types at any point during the match. ~British Soul~
So they're really going to use her even after what happened to her seiyuu? Wonder who's going to replace her. Oh yeah, her japanese VA retired last year. Though to be fair, I forgot that the character's debut episode aired last May. Ok, Dragonite uses Barrier
Astro Dude
Yeah, Fairy Type was new so Ash had no clue who to use. If it was Game Logic, he could've called Prof. Oak and bring in Muk. It worked against Jeanette Fisher, it should've worked against Valerie. As for Miette, her Japanese VA may have retired, her English VA won't. And about the Pokeball Factory episode, you think the Chinese would find it offensive.
~British Soul~
Probs not imo. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Jessie's Pumpkaboo evolves in that episode because we know from the latest ending and the upcoming Pikachu short that Pumpkaboo evolve into Gourgeist before mid-July. (Unless it'll evolve in the episode on July 9th which'll most likely be the last episode before the movie comes out) Regarding the whole fairy-type thing, if I recall, I don't think it's been established in the anime yet that fairies are weak to poison, therefore we cannot apply game logic if Ash didn't know that fairies are weak to poison. Also, this is the first time since episode 7 where Ash doesn't use a starter pokemon in a gym battle. (In that case he used Pidgeotto and Butterfree in the battle with Misty because Pikachu refused to battle her)

Wow, that's quite impressive, in a strange way XD And that was also the first time Hawlucha was able to win a Gym Battle for him. I liked Valerie's design and character, and it's a shame her battle against Ash was a 2-2, and that she appeared in only 2 episodes (though I wouldn't be surprised if she or any other Gym Leader showed up again). Astro Dude
Yeah, every other battle was 3 on 3, well, except for the Pewter, Cerulean, Vermillion, Saffron, Fuschia, 3 of the 4 Orange Island Gyms, Kumquat introducing Double Battles before Gen 3 made it a thing, Cianwood, Olivine, Mahogany, Rustboro, Dewford, Mossdeep, Sootopolis was 5 on 5, Striation was 3 one on ones, Nacrene, Virbank was 6 on 3, Santalune and last we saw was Cyllage City. So a 2 on 2 for Laverre was unexpected. What I'm looking forward to is Olympia. Call me crazy if you would, I get no respect here anyway, But if Diana Ross were alive today, she would be a good Evglish VA for Olympia. Heck, she even looks like her too. Flash Flyer - Sakura
Let's wait until the dub catches up to Clemont/other stuff BEFORE it happens. [Who voices Olympia/Wulfric] Like British mentioned, we're not even there yet in the subs.
So Hawlucha decides to use X-Scissor on Trick Room, and sees if that breaks. Well, it did work and Ash won afterwards. At least it has a non-Fighting move, which should be very helpful against Olympia, though I would assume she'd prepare for that kind of thing. I would say Ash wasn't thinking properly when he decided to use Flame Charge in Trick Room; it'll just make you slower, but seeing what happened, I can probably see why he'd do it. Of course, it made Gyro Ball hurt more; even if Fletchinder resisted it anyway. Battle was only a 2-v-2. Keeping with tradition, I would've expected a 3-on-3, but no big deal. As much as I'd ask myself "why the heck does Sylveon know Giga Impact as opposed to Hyper Beam because it build off its better SpAtk", the anime doesn't really pay attention to the physical/special split thing. We'll have to wait for a few days to see subtitles, bur yeah no mention on Fire-Types and things. Either they didn't write it in, or Fairies are actually neutral on them. Probably the former.
As for the Poke Ball episode, probably not. (Although Meowth looks like that one stereotype of them, so there might be. For now, I don't believe so either)

I would like Valerie's design if it weren't for her eyes but that's my opinion. As for final two Gym Leaders, I imagine they'll be the same ones in game. Now I'm considering Ash's team: He'll want to keep Hawlucha out of Gym Battle 7 and go for Pikachu, Fletchinder and Frogadier, though she will see that coming. As for Wulfric, I think Pikachu with Iron Tail, Fletchinder and Hawlucha. As for his opponents in the Kalos League, Tierno would be one, But I think Ash will finally win a league other than the Orange League.

Flame Dragon
Shota would be another. I don't tbh. I reckon he'll lose in the quarter finals imo.I don't think Shota is going to make it to the league. He has 1 badge atm and has already shown to not be good enough to get 2 others. I find it hard to believe he'll be able to get the other 7 in the time it takes Ash to get the last 2. This does raise the question as to what they'll do with him, but I honestly don't think it will be battling in the league.I don't know. He has made the Semis before (hell, he he was the second best trainer at the DP league) and I just feel like they won't have him lose in the quarters. Maybe I'm just being overly optimistic, but I really hope he'll make Semis again.Though, since we're talking about the end of the season, I'm curious what they are going to do. The obligatory 3rd game is likely coming out next year and the gen shift won't happen until the year after that (which is when all series end). I HIGHLY doubt its going to take 2 years to get the last 2 badges and do the league stuff. Comparing how the other seasons did it I'm going to assume they have some other big story to do since XY is pretty close to AG in pacing. (Aside: In terms of pacing AG: 6th badge at 85, DP 4th at 83, BW 8th at 84). My guess is they are going to be spending a lot more time on Serena's showcase thingy and do a Plasma arc like N's after the league. Also, speaking of Serena, I'm curious what they are going to do with her. Like, they've made it SUPER obvious she has a thing for Ash so I'm pretty curious how they'll end up parting ways, if they do at all. Its unlikely that they won't, but it would be interesting to see a companion continue to travel with him again.

Flash Flyer - Sakura
That's true, Ash managed to take down two legendaries; the other guy who fought Tobias in the final wasn't as lucky (though it didn't say if Darkrai was used last or not; but assume it went the same way as Ash's fight; lead with Darkrai). So in a way, Ash should've been runner-up; but he just had to fight an opponent with legendaries and lost. ------- Back to XY things, I agree that they'll likely focus on Serena's Showcases for a while. It'll likely be a heartful departure at the end of the series, once Ash returns to Kanto (and presumably prepares for the next generation). But if Serena DOES join Ash in Gen 7 (when it occurs), that'll be something new. Although I seem to recall Misty/Brock went with Ash into Johto as well, after he finished the Kanto League or something, but could be wrong. You never know, we don't even know how far away the Kalos league is and he seems to be learning from his defeats. I suppose we'll have to wait and see given both of us have differing opinions I will say one thing though, remember Conway? (The Super Nerd from DP) I was legit surprised when he entered the Sinnoh League, because I honestly didn't think we'd see him again after the Summer arc. Although as Black would say; "The two aren't comparable". My guess is they are going to be spending a lot more time on Serena's showcase thingy and do a Plasma arc like N's after the league. I know we have Serena's next Showcase coming in July so there'll be more of a focus on that in the near future. As for the big arc thing, I also think there'll be one like the Episode N arc. I mean I'm looking forward to Ash meeting Alain and an arc like that would be a good opportunity.

(I need to catch up on the original series A LOT)My understanding is he only used Darkrai for everything. Expect vs. Ash since he was the only person able to take it out.Like I've been thinking about it and I don't think thats gonna amount to a lot. Olympia's inclusion in the intro suggests it won't be TOO long before we see her and Serena only needs 3 wins (vs. the 5 for contests) to enter the master showcase thing and she is getting her first very soon. No way the last badge, 2 keys, Master Showcase, League, and Plasma can fill out all the time we have remaining which I expect to be about 100 more episodes min. Like, assuming Ash gets badge 7 by episode 95 I'd expect all that to cover 25 episodes at absolute max so we have like +50 episodes to play with. I honestly have no idea what to expect from those. I imagine Ash will have most his pokemon evolve, get a 6th pokemon, Serena will get a few more and have a couple evolve, and we might get another character story like we got with Korrina and Goomy but that still isn't enough to fill that out all that.Misty traveled with Ash for Kanto, Orange Islands, and Johto. Brook traveled with him for Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. So its been a while.I must be the only one who doesn't see him as a write off then. You never know, we don't even know how far away the Kalos league is and he seems to be learning from his defeats. I suppose we'll have to wait and see given both of us have differing opinionsI'm actually not writing him off. I think he is going to be important to something, but he just feels too green to a serious rival for Ash at this point. I think they are going to take his character in a different direction. Also guessing that arc will be about as long as N's which is like 14 episodes.
