Astro Dude
Well, today's the day: Valerie's debut, an in honor of this occasion, Please put your hands together for Mr. Steve Winwood, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkkNfZp_qDA
~British Soul~
^ Ehh... how about, no. (I was referring to the vid) I'm actually still wondering how Cole actually prepared the food/tea if he's a ghost. Considering that he was able to reveal the trapdoor underneath the rug, I'm going to assume that he can still touch physical objects (even if he is dead); either that or his Pokemon did the work. I did a bit of research on this matter and yeah it is possible for spirits to manifest themselves physically making it possible for them to move solid objects. Yes I am referring to him as a spirit rather than a ghost.

~British Soul~
^ Sure, keep telling yourself that
- So what were those Furisode girls up to? Well nothing suspicious, I mean all they wanted to do was scout people for the fashion show. - Surprise surprise, Bonnie tried asking Valerie to look after Clemont, like we totally didn't see that coming. - Shota learned that dragon-type moves were ineffective against fairies after Bagon's Dragon Pulse did nothing to Spritzee. - We know that Valerie will use Spritzee and Sylveon in the preview for the next episode, but we'll have to wait till next week to see if she uses Mawile or Mr Mime.
Also since Shota is voiced by Ikue Ohtani (y'know the VA for Pikachu) in the Japanese anime, I feel like I probs wouldn't be bothered with who voices him in English. Pchi
I like it that it appears Fletchinder will get under the spotlight next episode, since Ash's birds rarely get attention from the anime staff and that also means we're going to get a little showcase of the Fire-types badassness against Fairies XD But it's rather dumb from Ash's part to use Hawlucha, a Fighting-type, against a Fairy Gym, but that's to be expected from him, always eager for a bigger challenge, and he might not even know about their weakness against the pixies XP
Flash Flyer - Sakura
Contrary to what a lot of us thought on the Furisode girls in the preview, they didn't do anything stupid. Too bad Shota didn't know about Fairy immunity to Dragon. That cost him the match. Ash apparently forgot he HAD a Treecko (now Sceptile) in Hoenn; there was no reason for him to look it up on the Dex. Not sure what was happening backstage with Valerie, but appears she was depressed or something. I don't know.
@Pchi: Yeah, Ash will probably do something stupid and try to use Hawlucha against Fairies. I would say he has Flying moves, but Flying Press is both Fighting and Flying, so it gets resisted. Fletchinder will be a good choice for him. ~British Soul~
@Sakura: There have been quite a few instances where Ash checks mons in the dex that he already knew about/checked in a previous dex. Ash using Fletchinder does seem like a good idea given Valerie has a Mawile as well as Fire's resistancy to fairies. Also Fighting's weakness to fairies hasn't been established in the anime yet so there's that.
Astro Dude
If my opinion counts for anything, Ash can have Fletchinder spam Steel Wing.
~British Soul~
By that logic you might as well tell Ash to have Pikachu spam Iron Tail, besides we've seen Fletchinder use Flame Charge in the preview, so there's that.
Flash Flyer - Sakura
Pikachu using Iron Tail is a possible solution, although I don't believe the anime has gone into Fairy's weaknesses (which are Poison/Steel). We'll just have to see if they go into it next week. But given the preview, Trick Room is up, so Ash will have a bit of problems in there, considering his 'mons are sweepers and generally fast. Fletchinder was getting hit in preview, so likely that. Spritzee is slower than Snorlax (and that says a lot) and Sylveon is about the same speed as a Magnezone (and that's on the slower end, although not really). * I'm thinking too much of the game mechanics, since we know the anime disregards some of them *
~British Soul~
I remember back in DP when Ash had issues with Trick Room in fight with Conway during the Sinnoh League as all the pokemon Ash was using were faster than Dusknoir, which was playing to Conway's plans. Guessing they are trying to balance out the usage across gyms.
~British Soul~
Just in general Ash's Pokemon tend to be on the fast side. That's true, though he does have a handful of slower pokemon as well. (in terms of game stats) Also, its interesting that Hawlucha has been used in every gym battle since Ash got him. Guessing they are trying to balance out the usage across gyms. I'm guessing that's the case, yeah. (Though tbf he only has 4 pokemon on him, so not much choice) Although this isn't the first time Ash has used a pokemon in back-to-back gym battles. Take Ash's Chimchar for example, it was used in 4 gym battles in a row (Gyms 5-8).

I mean, Goodra is a pretty slow mon and he just had that, but they tend to lean towards the faster side.Yea, I did a count and assuming Frogadier is his 3rd pokemon the usage breakdown of the 4 is Frogadier at 3 gyms and the others at 4. Pchi
Ash usually checks Pokémon he has already seen or caught for the benefit of the younger viewers who weren't able to follow his adventures since the beginning, as most of us did. In-universe, that may justified as him trying to learn newly-unveiled information about the species or reminding himself about some details he might've forgotten - at least that's what I assume. More often than not the other Dex holder checks those while he checks the new ones. Exceptions exist (the Spooky House being one) but thats the general trend. IMO its a nice small touch. ~British Soul~
He does. I mean, Goodra is a pretty slow mon and he just had that, but they tend to lean towards the faster side. I was referring to mons like Snorlax and Boldore. I know Goodra is also on the slow side but he doesn't have that anymore so I discounted it. Yea, I did a count and assuming Frogadier is his 3rd pokemon the usage breakdown of the 4 is Frogadier at 3 gyms and the others at 4. Yeah Frogadier hasn't been used that much in gym battles, and tbh I wouldn't mind Pikachu taking a back seat here, we'll just have to wait till next week to see what both of their 3rd mons are (Seeing both of them currently hold 4). Flash Flyer - Sakura
Knowing Ash, he'll likely use Pikachu again. To be honest, trying to think of a gym match where he DIDN'T use it. ---- Pokemon-wise, yeah Snorlax and Boldore are his slowest. We also have stuff like Torterra (well, it's a tortoise, so you don't expect it to move really quickly with its weight), Pignite/Oshawott (base speeds aren't great, even when evolved) and a few other things. Goodra is kinda slow, if we consider it alongside other faster 'mons (I generally like to think of base 100 and higher as the ideal speed Poke [ideally 110 because of stuff]). Base 80 isn't that bad, but yeah. Then again, if Fletchinder does evolve, it should be very fast by then and hopefully a lot stronger. (Although it might not happen for a while)

My guess is Frogadier gets used simply because it was only used vs. Rock and Grass. And, since I might as well complete the 4, Fletchinder wasn't used vs. Rock or Electric. All things considered, Ash has chosen his Pokemon well for his gym battles.I think speed might have been a poor word to use. I think a better choice would have been mobility. Since while Goodra has a decent base speed it lacks the high mobility that a lot of Ash's Pokemon have. Same is true for Snorlax, Torterra, and I'd assume Boldore.I'd put money on it evolving. Every one of his obligatory birds reached its final stage so I see no reason for this one to fail to do so.
Astro Dude
Well, Shota's dub name is now Scottie, and his English VA is... unknown.
~British Soul~
Shota's English name isn't bad but ofc I will continue to call him Shota because he is one.
Astro Dude
And Lisa Ortiz, minor role as it was, was a little girl with a La Reine Furfrou. It's sad when famous VA's have minor roles. Look at Tara Sands. Her latest role was Peggi Jones from Sailor Moon.
~British Soul~
I don't find it sad at all, in fact it's the reality of being an actor, sometimes you don't get big roles and it's not a big deal.
Astro Dude
Okay Brit, one, where did you get your signiture pic? Two, okay then. Anyway, looking forward to how Ash's battle with Valerie will turn out. As for Ash and Tierno reuniting, not so much, but hey, at least Bonnie didn't throw a fit when Clemont lost. I'm looking at you Max.
~British Soul~
1. Armz made it 2. The only thing I'm interested in the next fight is what both of them will use as their 3rd pokemon.
