Pokemon XY&Z

Recommended Posts

I doubt they'd give him Skrelp, as that'd mean he'd be doubling up on Water Types until it evolved (and Ash can't evolve any water types, ofc), not to mention I've noticed they tend not to give Ash Pokemon that NEED water to move, they like him to be able to have Pokemon that are mobile on solid ground/sky. I could easily see him catching a Honedge, though, as well as Trevanant since he always has a Grass type. Considering that all the other 6 gen grass-types are owned by prominent characters, I doubt he'd catch them. Or hell, maybe he won't HAVE a grass type this time around.

Out of the Pokemon he currently has that are eligible for Mega Evolving, only ones that come to mind are his Charizard (I have no idea which version Ash would get; maybe Y, considering that guy in the special already got the X one) and Sceptile. If Ash had evolved his Gible into Garchomp, he would have a third option but he didn't.

If he does get Charizard back (which is extremely unlikely), he can just burn Ramos/Valerie (and Wulfric when we get there) during his matches with him; though it is definitely not going to be easy, just because of it. Then again, he also needs to get a Mega Ring [and unlike the games for us, I don't think Gurkinn/Korrina is going to be giving Ash one anytime soon] and has to tell Oak to send it to him somehow.

As for other Pokes, it is a possibility that Ash catches an older one sometime in the future (considering Kalos has them scattered all over the place), but then again the anime tends to stray quite a bit from the actual games.

He does have a third mega evolution option though, Heracross.

The other issue is that he would need to have a strong bond with the pokemon he's attempting to mega evolve, and in theory out of all the pokemon he has that can mega evolve, he would have the strongest bond with Charizard.

I completely forgot about Heracross, how silly of me.

But yeah, the best choice would be his Charizard, since he's bonded with it the longest (since the first seasons). Not to say that he hasn't gotten a good bond with the others [as far as I recall], but he has a better chance if he tries to Mega Evolve Charizard.

(Much like Korrina's issue with the Lucarionite, Ash still needs to find somewhere in Kalos that has the Charizardite.)

Going away from Ash, Serena's finally catching a new Pokemon (in that Pancham one that got leaked; I know it's old news though). If I have to compare her to Haruka, Hikari and Iris; all of them had 1-2 new Pokes on them by this time in their respective series.

(Then again, she was slower in getting Fennekin, so I guess this reflects the speed at which she gets a new Poke; but she lacked any real goal at that point prior to Summer Camp.)

Goes without saying I'd be down for Charizard to come back later like he did in B/W.

I honestly like how they've handled Serena's character since I feel like a lot of people would just kind of meander for a bit before figuring out what it is they want to do.

If I'm honest, seeing Korrina's Machoke using Focus Blast doesn't really surprise me tbh. After all, even though it is a physical attacker as well, Ash's Scraggy from BW had Focus Blast.

Of course, having Focus Blast allows for Korrina to deal with tricky flying foes.
Once Lucario came out and mega evolved, it went from 3-1 to 1-1, however Pikachu was able to win the fight.
It has also been announced that the Skrelp episode is set to air in Japan on November 20th
Kickass fight, though I'm wondering what exactly happened when they had that close-range Electro Ball on Aura Sphere momen t; Just sort of cut to that last Thunderbolt afterwards. Nice to see Ash employing tactics he's used before to go against his obstacles, by which I mean the method of defelcting Aura Sphere. Now if only he remembered his Counter Shield technique...

I agree.

In a way, Ash does need to get an evolved Water starter; the ones he has are still in base form (Squirtle, Totodile and Oshawott). The other starter Types have at least 1-2 evolved forms each under his ownership.

Greninja should be a good fit for Ash, should the writers consider giving him one (or Frogadier).

---

In terms of Ash v Korrina, I enjoyed the match; especially the scene before Lucario Mega-Evolves. Trying to adopt Tierno's strategy in the battle did not go well for Ash at some point; at least he went back to his old style and won. (Of course, the guy who put up the episode on Youtube cut out the scene with Lucario fainting [if there was one]; tried to watch it on other site, but it kept stopping during the opening.)

Team Rocket makes an unnecessary appearance; I personally want them to leave already and bring Team Flare in if they aren't going to be useful to the plot.

Here's the thing. The episode title does mention Frogadier, so if Ash's Froakie refuses to evolve, where would the Frogadier come from. (In this instance, a wild one would not be an acceptable answer given that the ninja dude's Frogadier would've evolved off-screen)

Also, regarding the previous episode title; the Dark Hawlucha is basically.... a shiny Hawlucha
