Made this thing for Yin, as you can tell by the text. I only had the vaguest of vague ideas of what I was doing. For some reason, it didn't save so I lost the .psd of the finished product.

I really like this. There is something about the flow that I think works really well. The sort of ink effect reminded me of the thing you get when you dye flower petals; that sort of peeling and curling, which I think fits nicely with the whole idea, intentional or otherwise.

 

The colours are nice, too; the red of the eye really drawing the image out. I personally preferred the blue rose, as it acted as another counter point to the black & white; contrasting nicely with the red. I think without that, it might appear a little monotone. I also reckon I'd prefer the text without the double/shadow effect, but it could end up looking flat in the process. 

 

All in all, very nice.

I thought it didn't work to just have another colour appear in only a small corner of the piece so I decided to recolour the rose, I suppose I could try making it blue again. It does seem a little monotone though, but >gothic.

 

Ink and flower petals? I dunno, I just needed something to fill the space :3

 

I think I might be able to get away without a shadow, that should take a little effort cuz I don't have the .psd, but it's still doable cuz this thing is so small.
