Because I think it'll be an awesome tech now...

Why you might ask?

It is searchable by...

And what Level 8's can the deck use?

Not to mention, "A Deal with Dark Ruler" is never a dead card in the Graveyard now as well due to Genesis Archfiend.

It's a shame that Archfiends don't have their own Tuner, so you can Synchro with your Level 6 Archfiends for Red Dragon Archfiend, Chaos King Archfiend and Thought Ruler Archfiend

A Deal with Dark Ruler is an Archfiend card?!

Edit: Huh...apparently it is.

Daemon's Bargain, or something similar. UDE forgot to mention that it was in charge because there was no point to mention it at the time. Trick Archfiend came along WAY after UDE lost their say in the game.
I really wish they would just rename the archfiend cards like they did with Amazoness Archer. But with Axe of Despair they just gave it a "(This card is always treated as an "Archfiend" card.)" line.

Oh right, the cards. It used to be really easy to set off with Stardust before the entire game warped to make Stardust no longer a true threat. Beast King Barbaros makes this hilarious but unneeded in a Skill drain deck.

I think the reason they just added the line was because it was easier to do without people getting confused by the new name(s). With the other "renamed to include in archetype" cards, they were usually very obscure cards that no one really would notice (Amazoness Archer was original just Amazon Archer. Wattkid was Oscillo Hero #2 for reasons no one knows).

Axe of Despair is a "classic" card dating back to really early in the game. Almost everyone knows of the card "Axe of Despair". They'd probably not realize immediately that a card called "Archfiend's Axe" or whatever is actually the same card without seeing that it's the same art and does literally the same thing. And it'd just cause confusion with other versions of Axe vs the ones with the reprinted name. Having the text errata'd, rather than the name, keeps all rulings intact, elaborates that it's an Archfiend (Konami's site did have this ruling for years posted), but without confusing players.

...So what will they do with Summoned Skull?

...So what will they do with Summoned Skull?

Well, they could have changed his name back when Archfiends first got support in Dark Crisis, but they didn't.  But it's probably going to be hard to put that in the description, especially considering that he's a Normal Monster (and lore in Normal Monsters don't really mean anything.  To add that description would change the entire composition of what the card is.)  So most likely, they will probably change his name to Summoned Archfiend Skull or something like that.

I dont think they'll change the name due to him being prominent in the anime, similar to Chimera, the Flying Mythical Beast.

Here's what I thought in more picture terms

The top line will be his usual lore "boasts considerable force" in italics. While the bottom line, in non italics will read ("This card is treated as an Archfiend card")
