However, Captain Falcon and Meta Knight look the same. Wolf, Ness, and Ice Climbers do look different, but this is too sketchy to be plausible. For at least my standards.

Cpt Falcon's in the same pose, which is basically the pose he's had in like every smash game, but the shading and color is looking mighty different especially on the head and armband. The art direction looks a lot more in line with Smash 4 than Brawl.

As for Meta Knight... I'll chalk that up to not really having many different ways to draw Meta Knight? At least the scope of the thumbnail in this one is different from the brawl thumbnail.

Obviously, it's important to remain skeptical, as it could be a very, VERY well done fake, however is it plausible that it's real? Is there even the slightest chance? Most definitely.

I really hope that this is real.  Everything is looking legit... almost a bit too legit.  Regardless, if this is anything like that 'fake Greninja' from X/Y...

Looking over this list again, alongside all of the newcomers listed in the Gematsu leak, all but 3 of Brawl's characters are returning.

Those left out are:

Lucas - The gematsu leak (I think) talked about conversation over whether to cut Ness or Lucas, since both are so similar, but they kept Ness bcuz everyone knows Ness and he's from the original.

Pokémon Trainer - This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone with Charizard as its own character.

Snake - Kojima iterated that no one had contacted him about Snake even after the roster was decided. Pretty clear he won't be in.

We have another leak, and this one is looking a lot more realistic.

Chrom's art looks like it fits. Though you can't see Shulk as well. It follows the Gematsu leak pretty loyally.
 
That's 47 characters total, with Meta Knight, Ganondorf, Wario, Falco, Wolf, Ness, Cpt Falcon, Jigglypuff, Ice Climbers, Mr. Game & Watch, and R.O.B returning.

Its likely fake. The image used for Chrom is one used in a past fake list. Also, the Ness art is a very popular fan made one. Its a very good looking fake though. I also find the fact that Toon Link isn't with the other 4 Zelda characters suspect since it would have been easy to keep them together and it doesn't line up with the fact that Brawl and this have characters from the same franchise together. 
 
 

I think it's important to note that the Ganondorf and Ness artworks look different from Brawl.

In this instance, it is, since some other unconfirmed returning characters (Such as Jigglypuff and Meta Knight) do not.

I'm questioning whether you looked at the images from brawl and from the leaks like I've been doing, because I'm not seeing any of the things you're saying are the same.
 
Could you provide images of the leak you're referring to with the same image of a 3D rendered Chrom and the image you're saying are the same for Ganondorf (whose images are definitely different)?

The Ness one I was unaware of...
 
In either case, this is actually likely the final roster, even if this is a fake. The only possible difference could be Mewtwo. However I think Gematsu has basically shown us the ceiling for new characters at this point, and 47 just fits so well into the 3DS's top screen (and a character select screen for that matter.) As I noted earlier, it only has 3 characters from Brawl without a space. Lucas, who the gematsu leak noted would be cut, Pokémon Trainer, who is clearly out with Charizard there, and Snake, who is very very unlikely at this point.
 
Even if this is fake, I think this could most definitely be the final list. The only off one being whether there are other new characters outside the gematsu leak (like Rosalina was) and if Mewtwo makes a return.

I was thinking the same thing about Toon Link, which would be the one flaw I'd point out in that pic.

 

Either way, I'd agree that 47 characters with those in that roster are likely, though I don't know a god damn thing about Chorus Men and personally would rather have Sceptile over them or whoever.

Another thing that'd make me happy with that is in the end, Smash 4 had nowhere near the amount of Brawl cuts everyone was thinking it'd have, which I thought was a drastic notion in the first place.

Meta Knight is more zoomed out, so it is different. Though it is likely using the same standard image for him that was used in Brawl which I'll agree is a strike against it. Jig's is the other character that most looks like its Brawl icon. It might be different in some way, but its covered by the hand. Odds are this was done on purpose to cover that flaw up.

As I've said several times, I'd rather not have Wolf and R.O.B return, and I REALLY don't want Jig's getting the last pokemon slot (she is the character I least want back). I also don't want Ice Climbers back, but with an enemy in Smash Run it does make it likely that they will be back.

The only reason why Gematsu didn't say Rosalina was because the leaker thought that it was an alternate costume for Princess Peach.  Considering that Daisy is just an alternate costume for Peach, no one could blame the leaker since the same thing could have easily happened with Rosalina.  You shouldn't be expecting more new characters than those 12.

Where did you hear this? Would be disappointing if it were true since I'd like a couple more new comers, but I wouldn't be shocked if this was the case.

 

Anyway, word has it we'll be getting another new comer tomorrow. I'm putting money on Shulk.
