Wait, I just remembered something from the event last night.

They opened the floor for questions, and someone asked about the menu interface. Sakurai said he actually loves menus to the extent he wrote an article about it in Famitsu (I think) magazine.

And I believe that extends into the fighter selection screen.

Symmetry.

So if Sakurai continues his neat and tidy menu interface, adding onto Brawl's roster, we'll either have 42 characters and the random space (to mimic Melee's) or 44 (adding another row to Brawl's).

OR we could have 43 characters, a random space, and a space for FPs, mimicking Melee's roster for fighters, then filling the row out like Brawl's.

Interesting number break down. Assuming the remaining 3 leaked characters are in we're at 37. After that, assuming only Falcon, Falco, Ganon, Ness, Wario, and Meta Knight make it from Brawl we'll be at 43. I'm putting money on Pokemon getting a 5th rep so that would be the 44th.

No-one's talked about the pokémon yet, have they? As in, the news that every pokémon that makes a cameo in the Charizard/Greninja reveal trailer makes an appearance in some form or another in SSB4.

It was brought up back when we first got the trailer. Its safe to say those will be the pokeball pokemon imo.

Anyway, got my hands on the game. Playing with a Pro Controller was hell. Like I couldn't even jump cause it felt weird. That said, I still kicked ass. Played with Gren and he is super fast and plays well. Little Mac worked very well with my limitation cause holy crap he is a beast on the ground. His recovery is just as bad as we were lead to believe though. Friend played Megaman and his big thing is that having buster moves as your standard attacks REALLY tripped him up. Going to try and get my hands on the game again on Saturday since they were getting really packed after my first game.

Wait, everyone's realizing he likes symmetry so it's likely we'll land on 39, 44, or 49 characters NOW?

doesnoonereadmyposts? :<

They likely did and forgot. That or they needed to catch up and just skimmed it.

Personally I got to 42 on gut since that feels like a good number. Based on my projections we're at like 43 now and I fully think we're getting a 5th pokemon so that would be 44. I think more is a few too many.

I'm just assuming that the grid is going to be 5 by something, but they may just extend the brawl one a column or two to get to 39 characters + random.

Wait, guys. Lemme do maths:

64: 12

Melee: 25 (+13, 13 new characters)

Brawl: 35 (+10, 15 new characters)

Wii U (so far): 33 (-2, 9 new characters)

So I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that we're actually going to get a few more new characters past the three we think we know are going to get in. Enough to put us somewhere between 13 and 17, but I'm guessing maybe one or two extras.

And we'll definitely see a few more returning characters. Captain Falcon for sure. Jigglypuff, perhaps. Mewtwo, perhaps, if Sakurai wants its Mega Evo in. etc, etc.

I think we could get up to 45 and not even have a random button this time.

EDIT: Last thing: Did anyone else think Dark Pit showing up and his line at the end just felt kinda... awkward? Like you weren't sure why they showed it?

There's some stuff floating around that 'Random' in Brawl anyway, like along the lines of that being another character that was dropped during development.
Though, 39 does make it rather awkward, as far as rosters go, since they love having a grid-based pattern for their character selections.

Well I believe that Dark Pit might be an alternate costume for Pit. It'll make sense.

I'm also thinking that we might not get Game and Watch, but instead might be an alternative costume for Mario. As well Donkey Kong receiving a costume that represents his 1980s form

Hell I could be wrong

Maybe I'm just forgetting something, but it's been awhile since Link has had a fairy partner, right? I want to see a taunt where Fi pops out of his sword and does a quick dance around him or something instead of that fairy one from Brawl.

Damn straight.

Or maybe he'll just act fabulous.

> Takes 40 minutes to drive to a Best Buy to play the new Smash Bros.
> Waits in line for 15 minutes, meets some cool folks, gets excited
> Gets call from sister saying her supplies for an exam tomorrow are in my car and I have to come home now to give them to her
> Spends 10 minutes discussing with others the pros and cons of going home or staying to play smash bros
> Is the only person out of the group to decide I should go home
> Takes an hour and a half to get home because I have to go through downtown and it's rush hour

fml... wonder what my schedule is on Saturday..

You poor bastard. D=

Seriously, that sucks ass.  Luckily I only had to drive 20 minutes.  (Stood in line for 3 hours, but it felt much shorter since I was just talking to people about Nintendo.)

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed. I don't really blame my sister, though I suppose I could blame her for not taking her study supplies out of my car, but I'm just pretty down right now.

Everyone I talked to there was pretty awesome, but if I go back on Saturday, I'll have to remember to bring my 3DS. Streetpass would have been crazy had I remembered. Maybe I could have finally finished all of the puzzles. I got like 3 left.

The nearest Best Buy to me that's hosting Smash is over a 3 hour drive. :(

Also, I've only just now realized a problem with the possibility of Bayonetta being in. A lot of her attacks use guns. She literally has two of her four guns strapped to her shoes as heels. Though they seemed to do well enough with Snake without giving him guns in Brawl.

3 hours O_0. I was in Nintendo World and once I got on line I got to the Wii U version in like 10 min. As and fyi, the way they were doing it was giving out tickets and once you got on you go to wait in line at a given time. It was a pretty good system over all.

You should. I think I got something like +50 passes over the past two days of me being in Nintendo World. I have like ALL the puzzles to go, though I've made a lot of progress over the past couple days.

I'll likely go back Saturday too. Just want to sleep tomorrow and I have plans Friday. Friend will be going all week so I'll be writting up his opinions as I get them.

Best Buy only has a few systems likely (I didn't even get to see them D:)

I wish they would have had it at like ALL best buys. When they did the Mario Kart thing at GameStop, I didn't even need to wait in line. HELL, I didn't even need to stop playing!

I've been thinking about it, and this game really is quite historic.

Mario. Sonic. Mega Man. Pac-Man. In the same game? I mean come on!!

EDIT: Donkey Kong, too. So many classics.

This is so true.

I know some people are not gonna like me saying this, but

Y'know, if we're looking at this historically,  especially for Nintendo, Mr. Game & Watch is just too important to not at least made it into a third game of the series. I mean, I guess it's fine to not like who you don't like, but yeah, considering he is pretty much Nintendo's first character.

Also, why'd you get rid of your DK edit? Now Agro gets the glory of mentioning him.

Always do bbz.

Captain Falcon and Ness will get in again. Jigglypuff is the only OG character that may not make it, I think.

Wouldn't it be absolutely ridiculous if Sakurai pulls another 3rd party character out of his hat before the game gets released? COME ON SIMON BELMONT
