Guys, considering the link to this image changes every day, we could get Roxas to edit it into the OP

 

 

I don't see much point in adding the daily pic to the first page. Most of the time it isn't anything that major. I mean, I can do it if people would like, but thats just my 2 cents.

Also don't follow the Image of the Day. Anything interesting revealed in any of them?

Oh and we usually just see new appearances of items and stages

Don't forget returning characters like Zelda, Luigi, Diddy Kong, and Kind Dedede (pretty sure all of them were daily image reveals)

GameXplain on the new Gematsu Leaks.  Remember the one that did the first leaks and 4/6 of the leaked characters were confirmed?  Now Gematsu is saying that Shulk (Xenoblade), Chrom (Fire Emblem), Palutena (Kid Icarus), Chorus Men (Rhythm Heaven) and another X/Y Pokemon are going to be the next characters confirmed.  Take it with a grain of salt, but this guy [i]did[/i] guess Wii Fit Trainer so there might be some credibility to his words... maybe.

Never heard of Rhythm Heaven and I'd rather have Sceptile over another X/Y Pokémon, but I'd be cool with the other characters being confirmed.

 

You just need to know that it is a series of rhythm-based games made by Nintendo.  Sceptile would also be cool as well.  Chrom by this point is practically confirmed considering the huge amount of circumstantial evidence (Smash Bros since Melee has a habit of putting in Marth + the lord of the most recent Fire Emblem game and Awakening is the most recent Fire Emblem game.  Therefore, Chrom is going to be the Fire Emblem character) and more solid evidence (Arena Ferox on the 3DS version pretty much confirms that a character from Awakening is going to be playable).  Palutena also has some things going towards her way in terms of confirmation (such as the Smash Bros. Direct with Fake Palutena and Kid Icarus Uprising being made by Sakurai, meaning that he would want to put in another Kid Icarus representative).  Shulk would just come straight out of nowhere though, but I would really love to see him in just because of his time manipulation skills and status-inflictions.

I really like Pokemon, but I don't want the game to have so many god damn Pokemon in it. Just put Jigglypuff into the game and that should really be the Pokemon roster in my opinion.

Chrom and Palutenia, I don't mind. Shulk, never heard of Xenoblade but as long as it's not another overmilked series I'm okay.

I'd like to see more of the smaller franchises get love though. Space Pirates for Metroid. Someone else from whatever game Captain Falcon is from, I don't know.

I stand by the opinion that Jig has no right returning as the 5th pokemon rep. Also, part of me wants 6 pokemon just so I can make a full team.

Xenoblade is SUPER popular, it getting a rep would not be shocking.

F-Zero does not deserve a second rep. Its been years since the newest game and at this point Falcon has been in almost as many smash games as he has been in games from his own series. Space Pirates, while cool, seem to generic.

Despite being a Xeno game in name only, Xenoblade is its own series and it's only by the fans of the game that it saw worldwide release, so it hasn't been overmilked in any way.  I recommend it if you want to play a good JRPG (good luck finding a copy that isn't inflated in price though).

 

I would liked to see Rundas make it in despite being a one-shot character.  His abilities would be pretty cool.

...I think you're mixing up your "smaller franchises" with your "overmilked series". Although metroid is only arguably overmilked, it is most certainly not one of Nintendo's smaller franchises. In fact, alongside Mario and Zelda, it's widely considered to be part of Nintendo's "Big 3."

I sure hope Ness has been in more Smash Bros. games than F-Zero games. That would be weird.

Unless Falcon isn't in all the F-Zero games he is still 1 behind assuming he makes it into this.

I strongly disagree with this. The overall "value" of the games aside, the Pokemon fanchise is MASSIVE compaired to every other video game franchise outside of Mario in terms of pure numbers. Metroid is still one of the big franchises for Nintendo, but its safely a second string along with Kirby DK, and maybe Fire Emblem (not sure about the state of the franchise, but it seems to be doing well). Mario, Pokemon, and Zelda as the pillars of Nintendo.

I don't think you understand what I was saying. Importance does not equal sales. Besides maybe Red/Blue, which did something on such a small cartridge that no one thought was possible, Super Metroid and Metroid Prime are two of the most influential games ever made. The prior more then the later, clearly, although Prime was absolutely impressive in how seamlessly it brought the franchise into 3D. Super Metroid is widely considered to be a masterpiece of game design, and has been so influential that it invented its own genre (you still see the irreverence to it in games like Guacamelee).

 

Pokémon Red & Blue was far from a perfect game, it had balancing issues with things like wrap, fire spin, and the psychic type. Plus there were a whole bunch of glitches. (I'm sure you remember all the crazy things that can happen by simply surfing along Cinnabar Island.) It's been wildly popular, but I disagree that it's been more influential to the game industry than Metroid has.

 

I'd be more inclined to take Pokémon as more important if they'd consistently make core Pokémon games for their home consoles. The Wii basically had nothing. Battle Revolution was boring. XD and Colosseum were both critically mediocre, with only the original really showcasing the kind of power Pokémon can put into a console sales-wise. Besides Other M , Metroid's been generally great on both home consoles and handhelds, even if it doesn't sell as amazingly. Metroid, Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, 2, 3, Metroid II, Fusion, Hunters. (with the last garnering the exact same criticisms that Kid Icarus Uprising got due to similar controls)
