you'd make a terrible judge, you never even threw the book at him

on the other hand, jiggs is essentially unhindered by robins dair malfunction, jiggs might be light, but a sideways spike(?) is essentially the worst direction to throw him thanks to the amazing hops.

These developments are...interesting. I've stopped playing smash at least for now, but when I do, I might want to pick up Robin again. These things seem stupid but very fun.

robin used to be terrible (the endlag on all his moves was absurd), but very fun. now he's decent, and still very fun. not sure why more people don't play him, but it's always fun having robin v. robin matches.

in other news, i haven't played smash bros in a while, and just went on for glory... I got stomped. Badly. i'm usually at least 50/50, but just about everybody killed me. i didn't think taking a break would hurt so much.

So I played Brawl for the first time since they shut down the Wii servers back in '14 (one of the frats was holding a small tournament as a rush event, why they didn't use Smash4 I have no idea), and my god it was like slow motion. It was the worst. I didn't realize just how much of an improvement this game was until today.

Was NOT expecting them to drop this early. Man, Nintendo has a monopoly on February between Smash DLC starting it off, Fates middle, and Pokemon at the end.

Ehhhhh... a monopoly?

All they have for February is (1) Fates, (2) this DLC, (3) Megaman Legacy Collection (which has been on PS4 and XBO for a while), (4) Project X-Zone 2 and (5) a rerelease of a 20 year old game. And that's for 3DS. For the Wii U, it's the DLC and one or two innocuous indie titles.

In comparison, you have PS4 getting (1) Crypt of the Necrodancer, (2) Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, (3) Gravity Rush Remastered, (4) Arslan: Warriors of Legend, (5) Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia, (6) Dying Light Expansion, (7) Firewatch, (8) Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, (9) Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, (10) Unravel, (11) Street Fighter V, (12) Far Cry Primal, & (13) Toki Tori 2+.

just saying

I new it was February, but not this early. Can't wait.

Makes sense to release it this early. Bayonetta 2's physical rerelease is coming out the same day as Fire Emblem Fates. They want to sell those more than sell the DLC, so they'll release the latter first to try to make people want to go out and buy the other two games.

I was mostly speaking in hyperbole. The amount of hype around Smash stuff and the nostalgia for Gen 1 are truly insane. Of the big named releases for the month Fates is easily one of the most hyped. Main goal was to say this is going to be a good month of Nintendo.

it's kinda depressing how little there is for that system until March.

Welp, the Smash 4 Backroom has finally begun showing their stuff.  They have made their list for patch 1.1.3, and this can be dubbed as the first "official tier list".

[spoiler big picture is big]

I'll be the first to admit that this list is a bit strange, but as a general scope, I have very few complaints with it.  For example, I think Charizard should be right above Little Mac due to him having THE most potent kill throw in the game and combo throws up to kill percent.

I like how the bottom 3 of Brawl are the bottom 3 of Smash 4.

Honestly, not sure I get the point of putting out a tier list RIGHT before a new patch and 2 more characters get added.

Because the backroom has been extremely active in the voting process for quite a while now.  The voting only just ended after Genesis 3.  At that point the votes were tallied, and only recently had the new patch been announced with a specific date.  If Corrin and Bayonetta dropped more towards Feb 19th, then this list would not have had such weird timing.  To put it another way, this list was always going to hit the first week of feb since the idea was first conceived by the Backroom staff.  It' just happened to be that the DLC was also announced for launch that same week.

I still feel like it would be weird to have a tier list for a game only be applicable for a month max. Like, I don't think the positions are going to changes a TON, but it still feels weird that they didn't wait to start putting it together until the last characters came out.

notice that this is the list for patch 1.1.3.  They have to start a new voting process for the 1.1.4 list.  it was either now, or waste all that time they spend voting for no discernible reason because nintendo dropped the bomb earlier than expected.  the list was practically finished, so there really wasn't any reason not to just post it at this point.

Thats the point. Why were the making it in the first place? Again, we knew we were getting it in February since December. We knew about that direct since I think in November. It seems like a waste to make and put out a tier list that will only be good for a couple months at max. The game came out over a year ago, people could wait another few months for one.
