Hey so I was wondering something: Does Robin have any guaranteed combos? I've been going into lab (that's what unlimited timed smash is, right?) and I've noticed maybe a few but there don't seem to be any actual definites.

Yes.  His down throw is actually broken.  At 0-50% ish you can true combo down throw to rapid-jab (the el-wind one).

Arc Thunder and Arc Fire are your best friends.  When you throw one out, you always have to be ready to react if you get the hit.  For example:

Off of the Explosion from Arc Fire you can link:

  1. Forward air (mid percent)
  2. Neutral Air
  3. Up Air (Higher percents)
  4. Jumping Arc Fire (low percent and requires MLG quickscope skills.  Can also lead into the other followups on this list)
  5. Grab (must be close)
  6. Thoron / Arc Thunder
  7. Up Smash (must be close)

Off Arc Thunder:

  1. Pretty much any aerial.
  2. F-Smash
  3. D-Smash
  4. Grab
  5. etc,

The thing that's neat about Arc-Thunder is that the Grab follow up ALWAYS works with the new shieldstun mechanics.  If you hit them, just grab.  If they shield, they'll be trapped in their shield during the multi-hit, where you can still grab them.

Down Throw leads into most of the stuff mentioned here at higher percents.

As another note with Robin; Smash Up Air is INSANELY strong. Kills at like, 90%. This should be your main kill move. If you're desperate, thoron also kills at like...130+%? Smash Back Air is also pretty damn strong, killing at like 100-110%. Other Arials kill later, but Forward is pretty good in general.

More Tips for General robin, charge thunder while falling. You can usually get a Thunder -> Elthunder/ Elthrunder->Arcthunder charge time off if youre far enough.

If you wanna spike, try and hit with the 1st ElWind Wave. The Spike on it is surprisingly powerful, just make sure to angle the 2nd wave so you dont accidentally save them.

Robin is better on Battlefield. Platforms + Arc fire makes Opponent's approach pretty much stop in its tracks.

Down TIlt is usually safe. Super fast move, but really bad reach.

Levin Down Smash is also a great Kill move. More powerful than forward smash, which you basically should never use. Also great for catching rolls, since it has some fantastic range, even going a little behind you.

Why don't you just Levin Dair?  It spikes on the sweet spot, and still kills pretty early when not sweet spotted considering the stage location of when you would actually throw out the move.  Though I suppose ElWind is far safer if you are trying to go in deep.

Its not SSB4 related exactly, but is Smash Bros related........

I have been told Project M is being discontinued.

Not so much discontinued as the dev team decided it was time to move on.  PM 3.6 is already pretty great in terms of balance, so there really isn't a need for them to continue beating a dead horse.  You can still download the hack files and such, and they have given their dev tools to the community (even though it's not that hard to just acquire the resources yourself).

Levin Down Air uses a Levin Use (Though, yes, ElWind Spiking uses one of tits uses, but that's really hard to run out of unless you're abusing it). Plus, It's a lot harder to punish, or screw up. I find LDair is hard to hit the sweetspot on, while ElWind Its pretty easy, IMO.

Project M has been cancelled . . . . in case anyone hasn't heard.

That is all.

Just amused me.

I still don't entirely know what Project M is so I don't really mind.

When Brawl came out I basically stopped playing Melee and never looked back for the most part. I do like the speed of the game and I'm glad SSB4 is not as slow as Brawl, though. I just don't like how being truly competitive in Melee and PM is all about doing the techniques like wavedashing and stuff. I can do them, it's just a lot of effort when I can have more fun in SSB4 anyways. So I'm pretty indifferent about the news.

I don't watch those sort of things so I have no idea who EE is, but I love it.

EE (or The Phenomenal EE as is his full persona) is a Smash 4 commentator who frequents VG Bootcamp tourneys.  He is also the gentleman asking to whom that burrito belongs whilst mocking the commentating styles of yet another commentator.

The best part about that moment was that Hax was a devout Captain Falcon main for the LARGE majority of his career, but he never actually won any majors.  Then he recently switched to Fox cuz he realized he could actually make some decent money for once if he played the best character.

This was essentially Mango's ultimate disrespect to Hax for switching mains, since he was arguably the best Falcon player known for a very long time.  Now S2J is taking that spot, though he doesn't quite have the technical perfection that made Hax's Falcon so scary.

Oh, and while I was looking up EE, I actually found the origin of the gif in your sig by chance. Thought that was pretty funny.

Shradow so slow.
