Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U

Was it just a local or a legit tourney? Also give meh moar deets. Who did you play? Where was it? Any really tough matchups? Etc.

A small local one at Popcon.

Best out of three, had to stick with the character we chose for the round. I used Captian Falcon, Ryu, Roy, and... Pac Man.

My Captain Falcon was against Little Mac. Air juggle for days, although he did land a KO punch on me.

Pac Man was against a Pikachu. A really good one. I was only able to win because he never played against many Pac Mans, and I got some traps set up for him.

Ryu was against a Lucina. He was also my friend and training buddy, so we went back and forth. Was able to pull a win.

I used Roy against Peach. It was so close. So close! But one close range booty bash killed me. Oh well.

I'm training hard for next year. Train as Ryu, cosplay as Ryu, fight as Ryu, win as Ryu. That's my plan.

I can only play Ryu on Wii U.  Trying to be that precise on the Slide Pad is just plain torture.  Unfortunately I don't have a Wii U so I can only practice at a friend's house or against bad people on For Glory.

My tourney on Friday is probably gonna be what we did last time, that is best of 3 pools for seeding and then a best of 5 single elimination bracket.  I placed 3rd last time with my Little Mac and only lost because my friend who is hosting the tourney is a Godlike Shulk main.  He doesn't even counter.  He 3-0'ed me and the entire time I think he countered maybe twice, and both of those were on point reads.  His Spacing is what makes him so good.  He is always the perfect distance off the Fast-Fall Nair auto cancel to not only space your potential punish (aka super armor through it with F-Smash), but also in the perfect spot to follow up.  At the time my only other Co-main counter pick was Mewtwo, who is also an awful matchup against Shulk.  Him and older brother (Bowser main/Yoshi co-main) took top 2.  Probably could have beaten his bowser though.

Anyway I digress, sounds like you had a good run.

And I know this is the longest of shots, but anyone in the Philadelphia area is welcome to come on Friday.  It's about an hour...maybe 2 depending on how you travel and traffic out of Philly (in West Chester PA, if that's close to you or whatever).  I believe it is indeed another Charity tourney so there will probably be a $10 entrance fee if you want to compete.  Like I said I doubt that's even remotely close to anyone, but if you just happen to be in the area, I can supply more info.

Well I say that mostly because it gives me an opportunity to slow my inputs down, try some new things, and overall get some practice in.  Performing Half Circles for the Shokunetsu Haduken and a Dragon Fist input for the Shoryuken can be a nightmare on the Slide Pad.

Shoryuken motion is a nightmare for me on Slide Pad as well.

Its funny, my friend actually preferred him on 3DS. Maybe because he started playing him on it, but he found the inputs easier. Personally, I'm horrible at doing them.

But I was about to switch to my main D:

Use Little Mac's D-smash more. It's hard to punish and can catch someone on the edge like you did to me that one time. I'm assuming he's going to be who you'll be using primarily both because you used him more than the other characters and also because he was the only character you used that managed to take a game off me.

Thanks for that. I needed that wreckage. These for glory nubs obviously are too easy. I'll get absolutely destroyed on Friday if I start like I did today lol

And yeah, my mewtwo used to be good, but I guess I'm way too rusty. The only others I may play are Charizard and Bowser.

Did you like that failed buffer KO punch? ;). I was a few frames off it appears and didn't actually get the cancel

Actually I hot the button too late on the buffer. Essentially if you ledge cancel the KO punch Mac will fall off the platform like normal but the game will register a grounded hitbox even if the move connects in mid air.

But since it's not actually canceling the move, it's calle a buffer. I hit the button just after I ran off the ledge, so only air hitboxes got u and you went nowhere cuz YOU AIN'T NO AIR FIGHTER MAC.

My bowser has actually been pretty legit on FG (an in all honesty the only reason you beat him is because I'm an idiot and forgot an uncharged Blazer has pretty much zero late and can't effectively be punished from the front #salt) and I'm still working on my Zard. Of all y choices those two were fairly ol against ur Roy. I was too scurd to pick Roy cuz I thought ur Roy would be better by far even though mine is pretty decent. Probably 2nd best char for me right now.

Then perhaps we should try and keep a lid on it too? I mean remember how pissed Sakurai was when Roy, Ryu, and Lucas got leaked LESS THAN A DAY before he was going to announce them?

If this is Smash Bros related, imagine how furious he'll be this time. Plus Nintendo is still working some things out with company control I'm sure..... I had heard that either Miyamoto or Sakurai would be acting as stand-in president until the next is picked.

I'm sure news is most likely spreading as we speak, so keeping a lid on it might be difficult. Having said that, I suppose the packaging on that amiibo is different because they didn't want to reveal it for Smash yet if it was Smash related.

Besides, I'm sure employees at that store only have themselves to blame for this.
