Katie made the inevitable Ryu/Roy comic:

*comic*

You know I didn't even think about that. Roy comes back finally but he comes back with another new guy. XD

though Robin would likely know Roy better since he was one of the DLC characters and Eliwood wasn't

Also I doubt Roy would mind being mistaken for his father

Remember, the DLC heavily implies that Robin is the same as the tactician in FE7, which is why Lyn recognizes him/her so easily.

So eliwood would be more likely, though not in the same context as that comic.

...Ike became really, really good. Like, all of the sudden.

I mean, I know about the buffs, but did they REALLY make that much of a difference?

Probably. He had the most significant buffs out of all the characters. More damage & knockback + less end lag usually does that for characters.

Oh, I forgot about the damage and knockback thing. Come to think of it, I'm also hearing about how the hitboxes on some of his attacks were edited to work better.

I'm loving it. Ike has always been fun to play, and now he's actually half decent.

Okay I just need to rant a bit so please bear with me . . .

200_s.gif

I funking HATE people who only do one thing in a funking match!

I went up against a Roy fighter who did NOTHING BUT funking GRAB ME!

358yk9.jpg

But no, seriously, he kept getting me in this damn loop which resulted in . . . you guessed it . . . him grabbing me until he wracked up enough damage to kill me.

Another player used this combo with Jigglypuff, in which he/she/whatthefuckever edge guarded after hurling my ass off the edge, and used her Down B to kill me. BOTH GOD DAMN TIMES!!!

I can't stand when people funking do that! It's basically learning ONE TRICK and nothing more. It doesn't prove you're better, just that you can learn a God damn trick.

I have more respect for someone who actually goes at it against you with combinations and a lot of different moves and beats you then any player who simply does the same thing over and funking over.

Now I feel better (83)

Sorry about the rant . . .

Oh, I totally understand that sentiment. I get used to a lot of the one trick ponies, but sometimes I do lose some and get a bit ragey, I'm always like, "funk, they're not even good at the game!"

I absolutely lose my sheet when, after they use their one trick to kill me the first time, they go and taunt. Like seriously mother funker, seriously!?

If you're losing to a chain grab in this game, you're doing something wrong and it's entirely your fault.

Agro, took me 12 minutes not to be so pissed I would say something I'd regret.

I could get out of the chains. I could counter the chains and fight back.

My point was that almost all he did was grab when he could and then do nothing else. My point was that it is funking annoying.

If somebody is using the same strategy to repeated success against you, it is much more a showing of your lack of ability to adapt them anything. If somebody is playing to win and an easy tactic that takes little effort is enough to overcome you, why would they waste their effort trying something harder that might not succeed? Especially in this game where there is no luck factor nor the influence of other parties.

That's fine for the opponent. If I can do something to mess with my opponent's concentration and let their frustration get the better of their actual skill, it makes you an easier opponent to defeat. Smash Bros is much more a mental game than anything, so if somebody can undermine your mental capacity during the fight then they should.

While I agree, somewhat, on the "if it isn't broken don't fix it" sensibility . . . doesn't make it any less annoying.

As well as the fact that I do adapt, change what I am doing, and attempt to tackle the problem in a different way. Yet when I get the same results for all of my options only to have the opponent repeat the same combination gets under my skin.

Which leads to your next post:

Yeah a lot of this is mental. When playing with someone face-to-face I always joke and try to get under everyone else's skin so they mess up.

I was just raging for a minute to get out my frustrations.
