Roy'll probably be like Dr. Mario and be more like melee marth; I noticed his Neutral B is still the same, and it looks like his sword length is a bit longer than marth's. I'm hoping they do enough changes to him that he is different, though.

According to le reddit sources, Roy can really be not dubbed as a clone, since he runs faster than Marth, but doesn't have the tip mechanic nor has Marth's good range. He also has different animations for his jab and specials moves. A primary thing that was one of his weaknesses were his awkward hitboxes, so I bet they definitely fixed that. I think Roy will be pretty well-rounded now.

Yea, from what little game play I saw of him he seems pretty different in terms of his attack properties. This is good thing.

Also rumor has it that doing the SF version of attacks (quarter circle forward for example) will get you a stronger version of the move. Not sure how true, but interesting to hear.

dp, fireball, and spin'll be 3 out of his 4 specials I'm sure, but I wonder what the fourth one will be. Maybe parry or focus attack. Then again, smash's guard/dodge works similarly to a focus attack enough, just without the attack.

It's focus attack. Best way to explain it is through ganondorf. The startup is like Dorf's Warlock Punch (Neutral B), but the actual hit is more like Ganondorf's Command Grab Choke (Side B).

Are you sure he doesn't have the tip mechanic? It could be there, just not at the tip, since Roy's sweetspot was at the hilt of the blade. Would essentially give us all three versions.

Little Mac works similarly with how you can direct his punches. Several characters can also angle their smashes. It looks like you can get the more powerful Hadoken (red/orangish one) by doing something different. From the gameplay, it looked like it only did it as a pivot special move.

^ I approve of that image

Also, anyone who voted Inkling in the smash poll got their wish in the form of Inkling Mii Fighter costumes. Not surprised that they won't be actual characters though, I mean that was to be expected.

There are Mii costumes for existing fighters though, like Link, Mega Man, etc. Could happen if they're popular enough in the poll.

As expected, e-shop's suffering heavy traffic right now. I'll try again in an hour or two.
