Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U

I hate little mac. Not because I'm bad againt little mac, but because I systematically stop playing super smash bros. It starts out as if I am but as soon as they take the bait, I'm camping the edge for a quick gimp kill. If I'm using Ness in that situation, it's as good as over. People just dont expect Ness to go offstage and it leads to the easiest fair kills

That's happened a few times, which is why I don't just wait on the edge first. Gotta make it look natural.

It helps, especially with Ness, that he has such a good spacing move to keep Mac a certain distance if you do need to go in.

my jigglypuff seems to get destroyed by shulk and ness far more than it does against heavyweights. i don't know if it's because of a bad matchup, or just because i haven't adapted well to their playstyles yet.

Jiggly vs Shulk is an really bad MU for Jigglypuff.

Same with Marth vs Jiggs.

Also I LOVE fighting heavies in FG. They're Villager fodder.

Is it just me or does Little Mac hard counter Sonic? At least in my experience, since almost every Sonic I face wants to spam his spin dash combos, which are easily countered by Mac's Straight Lunge or a smash attack, so you just wait for them to come to you. And if they stop doing that and try for a more methodical approach, it's a matter of using your own speed, since Mac's the third fastest character.

I find there are a few heavier characters that have responses to Sonic's spindash. Ganondorf's specials all counter it really well, especially the kick. Side B tends to either clank or find the sweet spot in the spin to grab him. Custom Side B that doesn't grab might be even better.

Oh yeah, Ganondorf is definitely great against Sonic as well. And his kick is just great in this game. I don't remember if it was always stronger in the air, but it's really good for dropping in on people who try to use aerials on you or something. Though he just has a really good air game in general.

Speaking of match-ups, my favorite character to fight a Mega Man as is Bowser, since he doesn't flinch against the Mega Buster. Also, Little Mac is fun against anyone who relies a lot on grab combos, since anytime they go in to grab, you can usually stop them in their tracks with a quick ftilt.

And while hard to pull off, a fully charged Straight Lunge from Little Mac KOs at scarily low percentages.

EDIT: Actually got around to looking at how early the KO Punch can KO people, and I didn't realize Shield Monado made Shulk so tanky: http://berathen.com/learntosmash/little-mac-ko-percents.php

Yeah you need Shield Shulk at like 115 before Jiggs's Rest kills. It's super weird.

It's still hard to really see what characters my mains have bad matchups against. The only clear one seems to be that all of them have issues fighting Rosalina. Because everything has issues fighting Rosalina.

So far the only "tech" I've learned to play against her is with Pit. Usually a Rosalina player won't bother shielding your arrows since Luma blocks it, but if you angle it up slightly at the last second, it'll miss the Luma and hit Rosalina's head for a pretty easy few percentage points.

Also getting Rosalina in the air is a must. If your aerials have priority or more range than she does, it can be pretty easy to juggle her and rack up percent without needing to deal with the Luma.

Yeah, Yoshi is probably my best for fighting her, now that I think about it. Her uair and dair are powerful, and usually what I see used against me most when I try to go for my air game, but like the Villager and his turnips and other sort of aerial fights, Yoshi's good for coming from the side. Smacking someone down with the fair leads into other attacks pretty well and the buff to his bair is really good. Plus, there's the super armor during his flutter jump.

Anyone else get calluses from playing a lot of Smash Bros? I have one just at the base of my left middle finger (and one to a lesser extent at the base of my left ring finger) since I use the Wii Remote + Nunchuk controls. It went away during my break from Brawl after the servers were shut down, but it's come back since I've been playing SSB4.

I may or may not be on around then, it depends on how long my lab runs. What's your NNID? I don't have anyone here added on my friend's Wii U right now.

agrodrago (i think)

Also:

It's Thursday. Time for the weekly rankings. No additions from last week, as not many events were held.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As you might have noticed, there hasn't been much change in the top 5 in weeks, with Olimar being the only character capable of climbing in there, but I don't think I've made it quite clear just HOW much further ahead the top 5 is from everyone else. While Rosalina's hold over the #5 spot has been statistically significant at over 5% over the past few weeks, the space between her and the top 4 is about 15%, which may not sound that large of a lead, but it is VERY large considering most characters between #8 and #35 are never more than 3% away from the next position. As for movement between the top 5, as mentioned Rosalina is quite a bit off, but the space between the top 4 is not. Olimar and Sonic are actually very close so it's possible there could be a pass there. As for the #1 spot, this week is the closest Robin and Diddy have been since Robin first took the spot, so it's possible the monkey could achieve his destiny and become the statistically best character in the game in the coming weeks.
