How's Villager in your rankings? xP

If I disclude everything that hasn't been used more than 50 times, he's #11. Otherwise #16.
T10 w/o >50 uses is:

1. Sonic

2. Diddy Kong

3. Rosalina

4. Fox

5. Ness

6. Ganondorf

7. Luigi

8. Little Mac

9. Shiek

10. Mario

T10 with those characters included is:

1. Sonic

2. Diddy Kong

3. Robin

4. Rosalina

5. Fox

6. Ness

7. Dark Pit

8. Marth

9. Lucina

10. Ganondorf
I'm still figuring out how often I'm going to be updating these rankings.

Edit: Note that since these rankings, several >50 characters have gotten above so rankings will look different next time I update. Probably gonna be thursday.

And this is all based on tournament stuff right?

And this is all based on tournament stuff right?

So far it's entirely based on tournament appearances vs tournament placement.

Which, as I've stated before, could be better.

But to make a real tier list the way I'd 100% want, I'd need the win % of every character vs every other character in any given tournament, which isn't as impossible as it impractical.

Though if the information is available, I'm considering going through every match at Apex and trying to make something out of that.

I'm pretty sure they'll release a sort of tier list after APEX. At the very least, after EVO.

from the characters I actually use I can tell this much (prepare for scrub infodump):

Pikachu might have been buffed on his follow-up attacks, but his core play feels much different in comparison to brawl/melee, which is probably what contributes to him getting beaten at tournaments more often. his attacking speed was upped overall, but he lacks respectable knockback to followup on for ground kills, and while his airgame is good, his damage output isn't really up there with the top fighters in the current game.

jigs is actually pretty tough, but the rest nerf can be felt even by casuals. strangely, I've won more online with jiggly than with any other character aside from robin and maybe falcon.

speaking of (REEEED)Robin, (YUUMM!!!) I can't really gauge him/her, my results vary from matchup to matchup, and in 4+ matches, I really don't get as much satisfaction as I do in 1 on 1 due to running out or spells faster. also, nosferatu is undisputedly the most useless move in the game. it catches exactly once in a blue moon, the healing it grants is minimal, and missing WILL get you heavily punished by your opponent. on another note, at least the taunts are fun.

captain falcon is better this game from what I've seen and played of him, his air knee actually gets kills/followups consistently after about 60-80% on a sweetspot and his falcon punch is the most satisfying hit in the world when you sneak it into the face of the unsuspecting people coming up from on the ledge in team matches.

I can tell you now that marth is a lot slower than he used to be, but in exchange, it feels like he does hit a bit harder for me. he's still good, but the loss of range has been a problem for me due to his lack of projectiles.

lil mac is good, but thanks to nobody that I've faced online being remotely good with him(that forwardB seriously kills most of them more than I ever could) I can say for sure that unless your opponent is a heavy tournament player, standing near the edge and just letting them either forwardB over it or NeutralB past a sidestep will be how many of your matches end. I had to learn that the hard way myself before I stopped doing the work for my opponents.

Hopefully.

I'm still probably going to go through the Apex listings anyway.

I'd take a guess 1 & 2 are going to be Diddy and Sonic either way, but I'm wondering how high people are placing Captain Falcon and Shiek.

Both are used a whole hell of a lot, but unlike the prior 2, they both have had issues that put them lower in my rankings than I'd expect. Captain Falcon is like the 3rd most used character and appears in the Top16 & T8 the third most, but after that, for a reason I can't explain, he just disappears from T4. Idk what's up with Shiek. I'm not sure yet if her placement compared to tournaments won is because of pure number of players getting her into the top, or too many bad players SDing her down the rankings.

no joke jigs is #1 in the ranking based only on t16 appearances vs total appearances (and if you include characters with less than 50 appearances total.) Weird.

If enough characters get over 50 appearances, I'm just going to make my lists' cutoff point 50 wins, since it's still kind of hard to tell at that point.

Went online for a bit just now and had a 4 way match come down to a sudden death between a lil mac player and a lucina.

the mac player uses the ForwardB special at the edge, the lucina player sidesteps, and the sudden death is over without her swinging even once. even though I came in 3rd, that was my favorite match of the day. These are the people lowering lil macs score.

Decided to look up Diddy; Didn't know they gave him a plethora of buffs.
....That would explain why Diddy suddenly popped up everywhere. Or at least, as far as images go.

Personally, I would still say Diddy was better in the last game, since 2 bananas >>>> 1 banana; Being obnoxious as fuck was such a hilarious playstyle.

It's Thursday! So I've updated my rankings of the top characters in Super Smash Bros for Wii U. Again, these rankings are based off of how high characters finish in a tournament versus how many are entered total. As several characters have passed the exclusionary 30-use threshold and several characters got over 50-uses, you're going to see quite a few new names on each of the two lists.

As last time, I've noted whether or not a character has less than 50 uses in the general list:
1. Robin
2. Sonic
3. Dark Pit (>50)
4. Diddy Kong
5. Rosalina
6. Ness
7. Lucina (>50)
8. Fox
9. Meta Knight (>50)
10. Ganondorf
11. Little Mac
12. Villager
13. Marth (>50)
14. Mario
15. Jigglypuff (>50)

1. Robin
2. Sonic
3. Diddy Kong
4. Rosalina
5. Ness
6. Fox
7. Ganondorf
8. Little Mac
9. Villager
10. Mario
11. Luigi
12. Shiek
13. Zero Suit Samus
14. Bowser Jr.
15. Donkey Kong
Most underused character on this list is far and away Robin. It's weird how little he's used, really.

And that's that for now.

Ganondorf getting some love, word.

He's actually been somewhat of a challenge for me recently to beat. almost everyone I've played that used him knew what they were doing, and that alone made the matches fun. he might move slow, but when he catches you, it's going to hurt.

One of the cool things from playing primarily heavyweights comes from the feeling of completely turning things around with a well placed big hit. It's like a comeback KO.

It's sad how standard Olimar sucks, but an Olimar with Explosive Pluck, the Pikmin Throw that treats all Pikmin as Purple Pikmin when throwing, Pikmin Orders that gives damage to those who go into direct contact with the Pikmin, and the High Flying Pikmin actually makes Olimar good.

Pikman can be very very good in the right hands. I'm betting on him being in the range of Luigi in Melee.
