I will get good as Samus if it kills my very soul

Also, I find that I take away stuff from the game until I get good. Like, at first, I was all "ok, tier system. the better I get with samus the better skin I can use"

but now I'm just No Skins, No Goofing off in the pre-game lobby, No Taunting. No items, always two stock. Nothing. Not until I get good.

It's actually good to start with low-tier characters. Because then you have to BE smarter to beat your opponent.

That's why I'm using Falco.

Actually Mako, if we play again, and I use Marth on a normal stage, you'll see that my playstyle is only like that with Villager XP it's rather normal with Marth, now.

^-^ I'd like for you to get better as well! Even though you're already really good! =3

Depends on your definition of "bad stage"

all I can think of is the Star Fox one that's not Gate Assault. You had real trouble fighting me as Samus with Robin.

nonono lylat cruise is a good stage, it was something else that you chose

I swear all we had to tourney-regulation stages. Battlefield, the two Animal Crossing Stages, etc.

...Was it Pokemon Stadium 2? I think we did that one. Or maybe that was DL.

it was definitely Pokémon Stadium 2. The transformations are so much worse than the melee one.

So since I've mastered my aerial game, and I've worked quite a bit on my ground game with blocking, spotdodging, punishing, etc.

I've decided to practice grabbing.

This training method is actually very efficient for me.

Mastering one thing at a time.

How do you go about mastering things? Are there like guides somewhere, or what?

From my experience, I just keep practicing it and try integrating it into my playstyle. I also sometimes see what works for other people and try remembering that.

For example, I recently noticed one way my friend does well in his beatdowns is he'll be ready to grapple you if you shield in front of him, then he'll usually throw you down before wailing 1 or 2 attacks before you can get away. So that's something I wanted to try.

That, and my side-air game. Chasing opponents off the arena and trying to meteor smash or intercept them is something I'm experimenting with right now. I'd say the best key to success there is in knowing your character's moves and knowing which one to use when.

There are guides, but the way to master is just to practice. Practice, practice.

Everyone says it, but it's so true.

Make a video of yourself in a battle now, and a video of yourself in a battle in a few weeks. Then a few months.

You won't feel a difference, but you will SEE a difference.
