...Damn.

I'm a monster tonight. Since I was finally able to relocate the Wii U to my room, I've given Smash U some quality time.

I went from (in 1v1 Glory) 16 games (6W/10L) to 31 games (19W/12L). Ratio was like 60% Samus, 30% Shulk, and 10% Ike.

...Though, it helped that there was this one guy that kept wanting to fight over and over. I went 8/2 matches against the guy.

GG, leadfoot. GG.

I need help with dealing with Sonic, Pac-Man, and Link/Toon Link. I play against them fairly often, and I have no idea how to deal with them.

I use Samus and ROB. (3DS version, if that matters)

Sonic is too fast and seems to be able to outprioritize all of my moves, so I can hardly ever get a hit on him.

The Links have their automatic shield that make samus pretty useless (At least the way I play Her), and if I try and get close, I get pummeled by their Specials. Samne problem with ROB, where I cant use my projectiles, and getting close to them is hard.

Pac-Man, I just have no idea how he works. And his Side B goes way too damn far, holy shit.

Any help?

So with Christmas coming up I think a lot more of us are going to have the Wii U version of the game. As such, would anyone be interested in doing a tournament?

We were gonna do a 3ds one...but it kinda died :T

If you feel a Wii U version will do better...go ahead XD

I main Samus and Shulk about evenly, though I've been using the hell out of Samus lately. I haven't fought Sonic or Pac-Man enough to give any input (I never see them in 1v1 For Glory U :/), but I can help with the Links.

Well, I can really only tell you what I'd do, and it really depends on how the Link plays. Typically, I stay back. Faaaar back. I'm always trying to find time to charge between my missile spam. If he's just sitting there blocking projectiles with his shield, good. More power to him. Gives me more time to relax, and the more impatient he gets, the higher of a chance he'll leave himself open to something.

If he's also doing projectile spam, dodge roll is your friend. Try to figure out which of your own projectiles is best for countering his. Also learn which projectiles can be completely ignored by the charge shot. If you absolutely need to approach, dodge the whole way there. Try and predict if he's going to move in and punish you for the rolls, and return the favor.

If he just flat out runs towards you, try and keep the distance. Use DownSpecial to reposition, punish, or interrupt his movements. Put a good missile in often for pressure and damage. If you can land a good grab, three hits and throw for some easy damage.

That's all I got until I get more info. Side Smash and a full charge shot are your primary kills moves, but Up Special can KO at 120~, and Fast Missile launches rather far, surprisingly.

After playing some more smash tonight; I also have problems getting down after beiogn knocked upwards with samus. Any Tips for that, besides use Down B a lot?

I know this feeling ten fold, and it's the most annoying thing in the world. Your best bet is to fall/use Down Special to grab on the the ledge, which, of course, still leaves you vulnerable. Just... less vulnerable. One of Samus's main weaknesses is getting down when knocked up.

Though, try and master the air dodge. I was fighting up against a Young Link earlier, and out of pure necessity, I learned how to air dodge rather well. From then on, getting to the ground was significantly easier.

Oh, and everyone, quick. Post your 1v1 Glory records. Go.

I'm thinking off hosting an event for both and people will be able to enter both if they want. If one ends up unpopular it can be pulled. In general hosting events takes a fair bit of work and the forum isn't SUPER active enough to get something big going.

Mine are so mediocre. Then again, a lot of crap gets in my way...

That video, all the people saying Link is Zelda...

To be fair, that's the common misconception.
I mean, typically games like that have the name of the main character for the game series;
Sonic is Sonic.
Mario is Mario.
Donkey Kong is Donkey Kong
Kirby is Kirby
However...
Link is Zelda.

So it's easily understandable... Despite being rather silly.

You ever go online, and like, your moves are delayed for like 2-5 seconds while the opponent seems unfazed by this?
Or even better; Both players are forced to suffer through delays like that, and the battle just becomes a really awkward guessing game.

Sounds like online SSBB.

I'd say you get used to it, but thankfully it doesn't happen enough in SSB4 for that to be the case.

This is brutal, yeah. It happens on occasion, and sometimes it's really bad.

Thankfully, it doesn't happen as often as I thought it would, tbh
