I still don't see why people really wanted Ice Climbers in. They never really added a whole lot, I didn't think.

Mewtwo, I actually never used him. But I know how super iconic he is, so that makes more sense. Ice Climbers, not so much.

Though I think I knew who Ice Climbers were before I knew who Mewtwo was, when I was a kid.

I understand that every character has some fandom following who go nuts when a character is cut, and I suspect personal bias on my end, but I don't get the Ice Climbers fuss. I never liked them, either facing them or using them. Granted, I wouldn't care if they returned, either, but I just didn't care that they got cut.

 

Mewtwo I didn't expect to return, and I'm a person who loved Mewtwo back in Melee. Then on the flip side...I also adored Pichu back in Melee. Not Pikachu, Pichu.

Totally off topic but Tropical Freeze is one of my favorite games of all time. Everything in that game was a master piece.

To stay on topic, would like to see DK get another rep. K.Rool and Dixie are the only choices imo, and while I'm for K.Rool I think Dixie is more likely to get in.

Unfortunately, the only new Donkey Kong stage known is the one from Returns.  I really wished that Sakurai would have added a Tropical Freeze stage since he added in Tomadachi Life (which was released some time after Tropical Freeze).

I'd go for K. Rool simply because I feel like Smash should get more villains in the future.

There's only Bowser, Bowser Jr and Ganondorf as clear-cut villains. And I think Dark Pit (never played Kid Icarus).

 

As for DK stages, at least the one in Wii U's really cool. That was a really interesting idea to bring background/foreground elements into the mix.

I like that alot as well.  I would feel comfortable with 2 Dong stages, though.  And Dark Pit is more of an anti-villain/anti-hero.

Congo Jungle was a great stage to bring back from the first game.

YMMV on Wario, Mewtwo, and Dedede.

I think most people would have. Returns was a very good game, but Freeze just blows it out of the water.

Considering Goku hardly looks shopped.... I'm betting they actually made Goku in the Wii U version, just for the sake of this photo.
Now given the fact Goku was obviously removed, here's another thing I thought of... What if, hypothetically, they used Goku as a placeholder for Mewtwo?
I mean it kinda' makes sense because Goku and Mewtwo have some similarities; Mewtwo's Shadow Ball is charged in a Kamehameha-esque manner, and teleporting is just Instant Transmission. The fact Mewtwo's one Mega becomes half Fighting is irrelevant.

No, not saying Goku is still in the game, I'm just saying he was likely what they used to beta-test some Mewtwo things.

Lagging sales in Japan are the reason it's being released there before US and Europe (at least that's the reason Nintendo gave)

I could see them working on a bunch of stuff with Mewtwo and a month or two before, they'll announce the other DLC to generate some hype and bada-boom.
