Was the DS one really that bad?

It was as linear as fornication, it was too easy except for the Final Boss and Bonus Bosses, and it didn't do enough change to the series to justify the years between sequels.

I mean, The Lost Age has much more difference between it and the first Golden Sun than Dark Dawn had between itself and The Lost Age, and The Lost Age was literally made a year after the first Golden Sun.

I'm hoping that, for the fourth game, they actually balance the characters by buffing mages and offensive Psynergy.

Ike's mediocre in a series full f mediocre main characters.

FFS, given when his games were made, he's worse by comparison than Marth.

He's definitely worse than Robin or Lucina.

He's worse than Eirika and Ephraim as a character (these two are much less generic than most of their predecessors and Ike overall ._.)

He's worse than Lyndis and Hector

Ike is a shoddy character. What he makes up in not being a generic lord, he completely lacks in being interesting most of the time. You can like him all you want, but stop playing him, and Tellius, up as much as you do, because he's nothing special.

Not a generic fancy lord? Lyndis. She may be royalty (more like a governor's descendant at that), but she never really acted like it.

Not a generic fancy lord? Micaiah. We know how awful a character and unit she is, even though, once again, technically royalty.

The fact that Ike is the only non-royal means nothing when he doesn't have a real character to work with. He's Generic McProtagonist,
Complete with being a glutton, especially for meat. I mean, shit, his line in Brawl shows what a generic protagonist he is.

"I fight for my friends"

If you're going to call Ephraim "just another Blue-haired lord", look at Ike again. He's just an inigo Montoya-motivated generic protagonist, whose character lacks in exchange for breaking the status quo. But fear ye not, he still has the regal blue hair!

He's as generic as Chrom, but his big offense is that he was made to break the status quo and hardly did.

He IS one of the strongest controllable units ever, though.

Right up there with Nephenee.

And while I never saw him in Path of Radiance, he seemed aight in Radiant Dawn. Sure, I preferred a lot of other characters, but he wasn't dislikeable. =P

FE Lords, if you compare them to each other, are all quite unique, aside from some exceptions. If you try to put them beside abunch of other characters from stuff that are similar, then yeah, any of them would seem generic, just in different ways.

In terms of gameplay, Ike is arguably the best Lord (often against Hector, from what I've seen).

In terms of lore, Ike is a legendary hero, capable of fighting against gods, and hailed as the strongest man the world has ever seen. This is the same world that Marth, Ephraim, and all non-Tellius characters came from, since besides PoR/RD, all FE games take place in the same world (which Ike traveled to after RD, as evidenced by Priam). So, in-universe, he beats out all other Lords.

He's got a simple personality and a straightforward attitude, yes, but Ike's a simple guy. That is not a bad thing.

The last few posts make it seem more like a Fire Emblem topic than a Smash Bros topic, considering the amount of posts regarding Ike and any number of other Lord units. My suggestion for an additional Fire Emblem character would be one of the bad guys the series contain; Lyon from the Sacred Stones maybe?

Regarding other game series 'exclusive' to Nintendo, I would like to see "Professor Hershel Layton" as a playable character. Only issue being that he is not really the type of fighter; he clearly expresses a dislike towards violence. That is not to say to say he doesn't fight in his series; he is a fencer. But if they would take his moveset from there, we would get yet another swordsfighter <_<. Another instance he used violence, is his "Slot machine gun"; that weapon could be interesting.

First, waifus went into the weeaboo region, and now a debate on why Ike sucks as a Fire Emblem character?  I agree with above user and we should get back to Smash.

There's going to be at least 435 music tracks in the Wii U version.  Also, Sakurai couldn't help but put in spoilerific trophies in the Wii U version.

They should have Sceptile as a dlc character that requires 3ds, Wii U, and both versions of gen 3 remake. Or just pay $3-5.

Pffffff

Although...

Greninja did drink Mewtwo tears, and now Mewtwo is drinking Sceptile tears, so....
Although, if anything, we could include Blaziken and just make it a Captain Falcon-clone + a Counter move.

I'd rather Blaziken, but Sceptile finishes off the Water and Fire starter lineup.

So I finally got it and I find Little Mac to be hilariously borked in Final Destination. No platforms to deal with, just your godly ground game.

Which is why when we have out tournament, whenever that is, we'll have some nonFD stages legal.

So, which Koopaling will you guys use, or are you just gonna stick with Bowser Jr.?

Jr. I don't really care that much about the Koopalings.

Then make Ganondorf use swords, so he's not a lame-ass clone with no differences whatsoever.

Ganondorf's not like Lucina or Dr. Mario, he plays very differently from Captain Falcon.

Also I know of at least one of his custom moves that uses his sword.
