Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U

You have a point, but there the difference here is very large.  A lot of people do not have plans as of now to get a Wii U at all.  Those people are going to continue playing the 3DS version.

Competitively, sure, all those tournaments will be on the Wii U version, but I'm betting the 3DS version will continue to thrive.

It'll be a thing. Nintendo made it on 3DS partly because they need the money and knew people would buy it who otherwise wouldn't have bcuz Wii U. But no one who has a s*** will give it. Once the Wii U version releases, there's a good chance the 3DS version stops selling as well. "Thrive" is contextual, since the players who play it are likely going to be players who play it casually. The people who take smash any bit seriously likely won't stick around with a game that can have lag issues in local wireless and sometimes even against AI.

The competitive scene is all I really care about anyway. Everyone understands at this point that the Wii U will have the superior version, and that 6 million in sales won't stay there for long once Mario Kart and Smash Bros are both on the system through the holiday time. Pretty sure everyone knows at least one person who's waiting out on a Wii U until Smash gets released.

wow that was a longwinded way of saying f*** casuals

Also, does everyone have my friend code?

So.... Is the player customization ONLY going to be a 3DS thing, where as Amiibos remain WiiU exclusive?
Since if customization is available on both systems, then what does Nintendo mean by "leveling up your characters on the 3DS"?

I honestly forget if anyone ever mentioned this and/or I'm too lazy to look it up.

Amiibos will interact with the New Nintendo 3DS.

Anyways, my room is up if anyone wants to join.

If the physics aren't absurdly different, given I most likely won't be able to get a Wii U, I could likely play the game once in a while at my friend's house to translate any skill I may have from one to the other. The player does not have to be competitive to play on the Wii U (nor vice-versa).

Though the Wii U version will probably be played at tournaments much more often.

Go to the main page on the 3DS version and select Wii U. You'll get your answer for customization.

And there's a peripheral for amiibos on 3ds and its build into the new ones. You can expect them to work on 3ds.

I'm a casual. :(

Well I will be once I get the game at least. Though I'm going to try to make myself good with Robin if I can.

Totally random but only now realized that the alternate outfits of Robin are not the other builds that you can make him/her in Awakening and it annoys me.

My point wasn't that anyone has to be anything to play anywhere. My point was that in general, the competitive players are going to move to the wii u, and the casual players are going to do whatever they want because they're casuals. There's outliers, obviously, but that's the general consensus of how the game's gonna go, and because that's the case, the competitive scene isn't going to give a shit about the 3DS version except to play on the go.

Some of the costumes and stuff are nice, but I wish they went the extra mile for others.

Like Mr. L for Luigi or actually giving Charizard his shiny, stuff like that.

There'll still be enough people playing the 3DS version to warrant using it for various purpose, like as an actual training mode for the Wii U version.

They'll use the actual Wii U training mode for actual training.

Also, you use Dark Pit, don't you?

God I hole you get eliminated early or something if the tournament happens.

Do you have a problem?

But yellow Charizard looks awesome....

I'm a fan of purple Charizard myself (actually for most purple alts, they're really aesthetically appealing to me somehow).

The overall color alts are great, I just wish there were more costume alts too. Seems weird that Little Mac, the Samuses, Mario, and some others get them and the rest don't.

You don't seem to understand what I meant to say. The 3DS version will be useful for a placeholder for practice and stuff if you can't play on the Wii U at a time.

Also I find Dark Pit annoying to fight is all.

Spyro is best Charizard.

FUC'KING, YES

*ahem*

Personally, it's better if they just use outrageous and/or over-the-top colors/alts for characters.
I mean, it grants them an added benefit of individuality, compared to the last game, when characters like Charizard/etc just had a slight tint of whatever color/team they were on. It lets them be different from the usual Red/Blue/Green team colors, and stick out more.
Or at least, the way I see it.

It's a shame Robin is slow, but I'll still play as him/her regardless. After playing Ike, who in-universe is actually faster than he is strong, I'm used to having disappointing speed. It's obvious for the sake of balance, because we can't have a character as strong as Ike also moving around as fast as characters like Sheik.

I'm glad a lot of characters have purple costumes, it's my favorite color.
