Yeah level 9 CPU is frustrating. I do like their unbelievable timing though, when blocking.

Oh and I must say, I LOVE the Rock Lee fighter I created.

Mii Brawler was MADE for Rock Lee

JUST LOOK AT HIS FINAL SMASH

Well now I know what Mii I'll be making later.

So my roommate got the 3DS version (waiting for Wii U like Shradow) and I tried out the new characters.

I'm getting good vibes from Greninja, Robin, Palutena and the Mii Brawler/Swordsman. These could definitely be among some new mains for me, especially the Mii guys (didn't get the chance to play Gunner yet).

Duck Hunt and Pacman are pretty good too, same for Bowser. He's definitely easier and more fun to play now.

I didn't get to play much of Rosalina and Luma, but they were interesting and fun, so I'm willing to feel them out more.

I had trouble with Wii Fit Trainer, Little Mac and Shulk, though that's just down to my playstyle. I like dash attacking and air combat a lot, so that explains the former two. Shulk I think I just had a bad match with, but I'm probably just going to be okay with him at most.

But yeah, this game's great. Can't wait for my own copy and Gamecube controls.

But it's weird....
They don't honestly feel like Lvl9s.
But if you play on, oh, I don't know, Classic mode for example, THEN they feel like honest Lvl9s.

IDK I mean....like....I absolutely OWNED in Classic mode hardest difficulty, until Crazy Hand. was NOT expecting form changes xD

WAIT

Fuse

Why are you waiting? I thought you'd buy the 3ds one X_X HOW CAN WE PLAY NOW MAN?

So how about a YCM tournament?

I think we're going to wait for everyone to get their copy, get all of the characters unlocked, and get good enough before we begin signing anyone up. So I'd say about a week.

I'm actually loving Greninja more than Robin, to my shock.

Greninja is faster, but doesn't cause a lot of damage. I discovered for me to play him effectively I have to be on my opponent almost all the time beating them up; if for a moment I let up I loose my momentum and have to work to get it back.

Robin is tricky to play to say the least. His attacks are good and well balanced, but you have to remember how many times you've used a certain move in order to not try it and discover you no longer can use it- I accidentally did that with Nosferatu.

That aside, I've been playing as Little Mac, mostly for experimentation; Mac is an interesting character, but gets murdered if he ever leaves the ground.

DUCK AND WEAVE!!! DUCK AND WEAVE!!!

I used Bruce Lee. And Billy Mays. And Captain Jack Sparrow. And Robocop.

You guys get the point.

I can play as Wii Fit Trainer decently enough, probably better if I practiced. However Shulk I cannot play in any sense and it was a miracle I even completed All-Star with him.

Master Core is really hard.

D*mn right he is! I couldn't even beat him with Fox, my main and best character, before I had to quite and leave.

So I've been fooling around with Mac some more-
NOOO
THIS DOES NOT EXPAND DONG:

Anyway, my thoughts/analysis on Mac so far:

I've learned that with Mac, you have to always be on the attack in order to maximize his attacks/damage, while you ALSO want to stay relatively close to the middle of the area you are in; If you loose any momentum with your attacks, it creates openings for them to get you, and otherwise being knocked off will utterly cripple Mac(unless you can get back); Despite the fact this is commonplace for a lot of fighters, it's more prominent in Mac's case because he ONLY functions in this sort of playstyle, and the whole being-knocked-off is more of an issue in Mac's case due to being utterly incapable of properly recovering.
But it's ok, because you can withstand about 150%-ish before you actually get sent flying to consider it a worrying point.
He is honestly a beast while on the ground; Bonus points if you play on an Omega Stage, because honestly nothing will stop you otherwise.

Fighters like Robin who have a handful of ranged attacks seem to give him some trouble, in the sense that he can't always bypass this crap. But otherwise, you can easily smash through them if you just press on:

...Just pay attention to where you are in relation to said fighter.

Fighters that can easily outspeed him, like Pikachu for example, require you to either let them come to you OR just make the first move and try and catch them off guard.
Speed is and isn't an issue with Mac since he is pretty quick.
BUT faster fighters can make the fight a little weird.
But otherwise, you shouldn't have much trouble:

Oh boy here we go...
Fighters with a 'Counter' ability are honestly Mac's kryptonite.
Case in point, is the whole unpredictable nature of said moves.
Either A, you are forced to loose your momentum for a split second OR you just bit the bullet and get suckered into hitting yourself. Both suck.
But otherwise, said characters are typically on par with Mario/Pikachu/etc, if you go up against them with Mac:

So really, it's just a few "minor" things that will utterly destroy Mac, but since you already know how such characters fight, you shouldn't have that much trouble.

PUNCHING DK, IN STEREO!

'Course, I'm sure a lot of this is just stating the obvious, but still.

I've yet to try facing Bowser with Mac, since Bowser doesn't flinch.
....
......
Bowser scares me.

Oh, please. It's always better to start discussing it early to have the event be better organized with more time for preparation. The type of tournament as well as various rules would be important to discuss, because I would prefer a team tournament over anything as it stands. There is no downside to being proactive in planning something so static.

I've basically decided that the enemies that use projectiles and items are a lot easier to deal with if you maintain constant pressure and barely give up an inch (to a sane degree, of course)

Also I started learning how to combo with Dark Pit. I've been juggling some people without remorse. Alongside Mega Man because of the demo, he and Bowser Jr are my mains so far. Dark Pit is basically Melee Marth to me. I decided this was the case after I spent a whole game using shorthop nairs until finally spiking a Fire Fox for game. Also he doesn't die.

I've unlocked so far:

Dark Pit, Ness, Wario, Lucina, and Doctor Mario

I take too long =P

Also as for the final boss.....well I beat the intensity 9.0 thing in 5 minutes, but the BOSS......the swords were actually the least of my worry, I HATE the humanoid one.

Caeda asked me to post this for those of you who care.

[spoiler=Preliminary Tier List]

As with any fighting game, the first tier list should always be taken with a huge vat of salt, but it's really worth noting this time around cause I think there's a surprise here for you guys who love a certain green Dino like I do!

Taken from a Japanese Smash Tourney recently held, by NO MEANS FINAL, but this is what our first impressions look like for the Smash 3DS Tier List. Tier Lists do change, but let's hope that little green Dino is near the top for the rest of them. <3

Also, worth noting is that this time around, there is no Tier S, which means even if you choose to use a Lower Tier character, it should NEVER be a case of Melee Fox or Brawl Meta Knight, which is pretty awesome for now.

Yay!  Yoshi's top tier!

Also, there's an absence of the 'F' and lower tiers, meaning that everyone is balanced very well.

Even then, I don't agree with the Tier List, especially with Palutena and Little Mac's positions.  Palutena proved to be amazing in Japan, and Little Mac have a very crippling weakness when knocked into the air.  Plus, Ness is too good to be in D-Tier.

How much you wanna bet the reason Yoshi is top tier is because people watched Amsa and learned from him?

I haven't tried out all the characters, but I WILL say that it seems like a decent enough list. Villager is about where I predicted he'd be, though I still plan to main him enough to be able to be competitive. Especially because his aerial game has INCREDIBLE potential.

For example, the turnips have a STATIC hitbox, meaning when you use his up air and down air, even if the initial attack misses, as long as the opponent touches the turnip, he will get hit =P

1 turnip - mild inconvenience
2 turnips - mild launch for combo

3 turnips - major lauch/meteor smash for kill

Surprised to see Palutena in the bottom though, from what I understood, she was supposed to be really good.

As for Little Mac, I feel that it's easy enough to keep from being in the air too much as long as you're able to take control of the center, play offensively, and not chase down your opponent mid-flight.
