Βyakuya
That last line by Chrom must have been one of the most ultimate trolls of Sakurai. Though there's a possibility he'll assist in a Final Smash of Lucina's. And seeing that Fire Emblem has been becoming much more prominent in Smash, if I were to stop being an uncultured swine towards not knowing more about the franchise, what games should I start with? Shradow
Sacred Stones for the GBA, Path of Radiance for the Gamecube, and of course Awakening for the 3DS. Those three are all good choices.

Awakening seems like more of a relevant start, but weren't there any titles for the regular Nintendo DS?
Shradow
Shadow Dragon, a remake of Marth's game, was for the DS. I've never played it, though.
LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
Don't play Shadow Dragon....Not if you want to know what a Fire Emblem game is like. I could rant, but it's utter trash imo compared to the rest. (Though I still enjoyed the game, which shows how much I like the series.) To be honest, any of the games would be fine to play first. Keep in mind Radiant Dawn for the Wii is a sequel to Path of Radiance on the Gamecube. But it does a decent job at explaining the plot of PoR. Radiant Dawn also has some....issues that make it not as good a choice, again in my opinion. Sacred Stones was my first, so that one is a good starter. But most people started with Blazing Sword for the GBA (Which is just titled "Fire Emblem" in the U.S.) However Path of Radiance for the Gamecube and Awakening for the 3DS are excellent games as well, and Awakening is the most popular at the moment. Shradow
Yeah, I've heard Shadow Dragon wasn't that good. Radiant Dawn's issues were that while it had awesome gameplay, it goofed a bit when it came to story and characters.
Tentacruel
Radiant Dawn also had the issue of being unplayable difficult.
Shradow
Was it? I never had many problems, and I went through it the first time on Hard.
Tentacruel
I haven't played it, I just saw my brother play it for a few hours, looked way harder than Awakening.
Shradow
Well, Awakening is pretty easy because characters could get OP relatively easily, and pairing up was really effective.
~British Soul~
The only Fire Emblem games I have ever played are Path of Radiance and Awakening. I didn't get that far into Path of Radiance as I was borrowing it from a friend I don't see anymore.

Radiant Dawn's issues were that while it had awesome gameplay, it goofed a bit when it came to story and characters. Yeah, SD is....Uggggh. I...Shouldn't get too into it. And I actually didn't mind the story, I can't forgive the character stuff. Not that they were bad, but we barely got to see any personality for most of them. The Support System..... Radiant Dawn also had the issue of being unplayable difficult. Was it? I don't think it was, I mean in the end you get several completely broken characters for free. Oh wait, I noticed your other comment. Okay then. It may have been harder but not unplayable.
Shradow
Path of Radiance is probably my favorite FE, it's a great game and has the two best FE characters ever.
LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
Path or Radiance was a great game. I just have a special place in my heart for Sacred Stones. And I wish it got more love. Ephraim is probably the most badass Lord. (And I honestly think he's more awesome than Ike. He's powerful and has a mind for tactics....Of course Ike does become totally broken but that makes him less badass in my eyes). Sorry for making this a Fire Emblem topic, couldn't help myself.... Still want a spear user in Smash.
Blake
The best to start on is probably FE13, Awakening. Good cast, easy to grind, has casual mode, etc. FE8, Sacred Stones had an amazing cast, and had lots of easy grinding, but was rather easy and short, especially easy in the international release. Fire Emblem (7), the first international one with Elwood, Lyn, and Hector was also toned down internationally. FE6 Binding blade is FE7's sequel so to speak, timeline wise. Not one of the harder FEs overall, but not a cakewalk. Also needs an English patch FE9, Path of Radiance was great IMO. Good characters, good gameplay, but it felt a little unrefined, though the difficulty is a little higher than the 3 before it. FE10, Radiant Dawn had a mediocre plot even by FE standards, minimal character development beyond main cast, and retconned PoR a bit much. It had some of the best gameplay in the series though, and the only truly hard moments were, like, 3-13 and unlocking the secret recruit able character. FE1/11, The original and it's remake are bad. The remake is a bit better, but still really mediocre to play, especially with evolved standards. FE3/12, the sequel to 1 and it's remake. Idk if the original Mystery of the Emblem was good, but New Mystery of the Emblem seems great, if hard. Characters develop, reclass, etc. and you have an avatar like Awakening. FE4, Geneaology of the holy war is hard as balls, it also has fewer chapters in favor of HUUUIGE maps with multiple castles. Idk about its sequel, FE5 or Thracian 776. Also don't know about FE2/Gaiden.
LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
As always, Black impresses me with his summary. Also yes, New Mystery of the Emblem is a really good game. (And I suppose it IS a bit harder now that you mention it.) So glad to see people who appreciate Sacred Stones and its cast. Also keep in mind 7-13 (Skipping 12) are the only English games in the series.

Agro
So I JUST got to reading the last two Miiverse posts. Lucina: So she's not like Roy because there's absolutely no sweet spot. That's okay by me because it means I don't have to be as good with getting tippers. The only thing I want to know is if she'll be at all faster. She had little to no recovery time after landing with her nair so I'm hoping that those physical differences make her better. I'm happy Sakurai tried to give reasons for her having her own slot and I hope that's enough for people, even if it probably won't be. Robin: I still have no idea how this works. Every time he uses a B-move will it switch from like Thunder, Elthunder, Arcthunder, Thoron? Or is it like every B-move will be a different spelltype: Neutral B: Nosferatu Side B: Thunder Up B: Wind Down B: Fire But will each spell change each time or just the thunder ones? And from what I gather, Levin Sword is just Smash attacks and aerials? But you have limited of everything so at a certain point, you can run out. I'm curious to see what his physical attacks are like, because it feels like running out of items could feel a lot like playing SoPo Ice Climbers
Flame Dragon
and there can only be more.... well at least there better be -.- I think Sakurai made a comment about nearing the end of the new characters list, so we know we have 1, most likely 2 or 3, new one(s) left to go. Shradow
Agro, if you haven't already, watch the GameXplain analysis I posted a few pages ago, it's pretty good. I hope Lucina is a faster Marth, it'd make me want to play her. I never really practiced with Marth, but I always did well when he popped up on Random. Lonk
I think Sakurai made a comment about nearing the end of the new characters list, so we know we have 1, most likely 2 or 3, new one(s) left to go. We're still going to get Shulk and Chorus Men. The last newcomers didn't change that fact.
Jord200
Ok, answer me this. Why does everyone think we'll get the Chorus Men? I would think we would be more likely to get someone along the lines of Sceptile, Bayonetta, Isiaac, or Girhaham ( Or however you spell his name ). I would think we would be more likely to get someone along the lines of Sceptile, Bayonetta, Isiaac, or Girhaham ( Or however you spell his name ). There was an early leak from Gematsu with predictions that came true, with the minor exceptions as Rosalina (speculated to be Peach costume at the time) and Chrom (thought to be playable), IIRC. Other predictions on that list were Shulk and Chorus Men. Though I am totally with you on preferring those other guys over CM.
