I'm liking this. The smudging is great, full of texture. And the contrast of the focal works well. A great start.

I agree, only downside to this is that the focal doesn't contribute much to the piece overall, which is quite a shame since that render is one of my favorites. 

Perhaps if you darken the parts without the smudge a bit more the contrast wouldn't be so great and the focal would blend more. 

 

You should post this in showcase though, good stuff.

I will see what I can do. The problem is that I don't master the smudge because I use the mouse.
