5. Winner gets a point in the leaderboard and a like from the loser. Points are also welcome~

6. For the first time in a Toyo 1v1, this will use the Card A and B system. (until I decide to shatter my anonymity, which will happen soon enough)

[spoiler=Card Requirements]

Make a monster whose effects help an Xyz Monster. (Xyz Support)

Simple enough, right?

[spoiler=Card A]

[spoiler=Eff]

This card cannot be used as Xyz Material except by its own effect. You can target 1 Xyz Monster on the either side of the field that has atleast 1 Xyz Material attached to it: Detach 1 Xyz Material from it and Special Summon this card from your hand. If a face-up Xyz Monster you control would be destroyed, you can negate its destruction and attach this card as Xyz Material to the Xyz Monster that would be destroyed. You can only control 1 face-up "Overlay Guardian."

[spoiler=Card B]

[spoiler=Eff]

During your opponent's turn, when a monster(s) you control would be destroyed by your opponent's card effect: you can Banish this card in your graveyard; negate the effect of that card. This effect of "Melodica June" can only be activated once per turn. An Xyz Monster that has this card attached to it as Xyz Material cannot be destroyed by battle or by your opponent's card effects, but cannot attack your opponent directly.

Card A definitely wins in creativity, it does something that hasn't really been done before. It allows for Xyz Support, yet cannot directly be an Xyz Material. I feel like it may be a tad overpowered, and could probably do with some nerfing in the ATK area, but overall it is a decent card. Card B allows for a lot more protection, but it doesn't boast anything new or overly creative. My vote goes to Card A, due to its interesting effect, as well as being able to be used in a great number of decks. Melodica June could be used in a number of decks as well, but doesn't carry the same punch or flare that Overlay Guardian has.

Both cards are interesting, allowing for Xyz protection, although Overlay Guardian does it in a more roundabout, yet creative way. I think his ATK could possibly be lowered, to avoid any question of OP'edness, but it is not so drastically out of proportion to cause too much worry. Card B's OCG is bugging me, and while it shouldn't really play too big of a part in a vote, subconsciously I am sure that it will affect my, and others' decision. There is nothing overly wrong with Melodica, but it isn't anything special either. Overlay Guardian borders on OP'edness, but boasts originality and creativity. Hmm...I think I am going to have to go with Card A on this one.

I find card A to be a neat concept, but I find that it would probably not fit anywhere at all. It's pretty well balanced in that regard, but it makes it pretty unusable. Card B is quite powerful, basically making any monster into a Lead Yoke without the detach, though on the other hand, you gave it an direct attack restriction, and it still requires this card to be attached, so you are most likely only going to be able to use that card's effect once. I'll vote for card B.

Card A:

A very great, solid card. Creative, destructive, and ofcourse, as the name says, protective. However, the high ATK stat kind of pushes the boundary between what is fine and what is not fine about this card. With a lower ATK (and I already covered this in the RC Single Thread for this card), I would like this card more, and, as a whole, it would be more balanced. The typing allows potential Warrior Returning Alive abuse, but that ups the playability more. The most deciding thing about this card and the next card vote wise for me is how much each is needed/would be wanted in todays format. I'll get into that topic first thing under Card B.

Card B:

This card is amazing in today's format. With Torrential and Mirror at 2, and Dark Hole limited, this card can be amazing in warding them off and discouraging their use even more. Though this isn't its Xyz support side of the effect, it just makes for a format fitting, great card, and vastly increases playability. The fact it is Level 4 increases playability by leaps and bounds also, being useful for instant Xyz Summons with Goblindbergh/Summoner Monk (Monk making it easy to get this from Xyz Monsters straight to grave, the ideal path for this monster. As well as the combination making for a perfect Chaos), giving it a home in decks like ZW or any Rank 4 spamming Deck, for example, Gogogo.

Overall, Card A, be it powerful, is less fitting to the format then Card B, where speed and consistency is everything. Card B can also find a home, many at that, where as Card A would be introduced to the playerbase and tossed in Decks randomly. Plus, I also feel that Card A needs a power decrease, which pushes me away from voting for it.

With all these factors pulling me towards B and away from A, the obvious choice for me is:

Card B.
