Lower Shop Prices

Really, most people will never be able to get enough points to purchase the Change Display Name item, at the moment Card Contests and etc. won't earn you nearly enough points, so how about lowering the price for a Display Name item to somewhere between 800 and 2000? Seeing as the Colour Topic item disappears if you change the OP, it could also be lowered.

Ugh the name change could be lowered slightly but not a small enough amount so it will get abused.

 

I don't support having the color topic smaller, would end up with everyone having it and that isn't too good.

I do agree some of the prices are a bit high, so I lowered... most of them.

Regarding the Change Display Name though, you're already allowed to do it once for free every 90 days. The item version is just an added perk, not the only way it can be done.

I have been thinking this too. I dislike that I need to wait 90 days to change my name, and 1000 is a fair price so it can't be abused I feel. Any lower than that is up to vote, but I think it would be an alright price to start at.

Name changes are not something that should be there whenever somebody wants it.

I agree with LZ. The name change system has been abused over and over, so making it easier for members to get a change just makes it worse.

It's still moderately expensive.

That depends on how many points you have. I can get thirty-two or so name changes at my whim if they're only 2500 points and I wouldn't be beyond charity to someone else who wants one but has no points.

 

It also becomes 45 days after 5000 posts, which is actually really short.

Expanding on this, I think the "Ban Yourself For One Hour" item shouldn't cost points. That's punishing people for wanting to get rid of distractions so that they can focus on schoolwork and etc.

Why should we have to change because some people have no will power? This is the same as people PMing me to ban them and its ridiculous.

We have to make a balance in price so that those who have the points do not abuse items. If the result is that some newer members have to sit out on perks then so be it.

Regarding prices, we (the staff) aren't using the points. Points have absolutely no value to us since we can change our name an infinite number of times, close and open topics, and spawn points at will.

With the shop: We wanted to give people perks, but we didn't want people to have an infinite number of perks because that leads to them being abused. So we use a shop system instead.
