Zazubat
So I was thinking, should we get a new rulings thread? I'm asking this because the thead isn't all that great, I mean the first post is just a question. I once tried to make something that compiled a lot of different rulings into one, but I never got around to finishing it, and it was too complex as well, though there're still things that I would like to see, such as a list of answered rulings so you could more easily look them up and a complete guide to the rules of YGO (there aren't many good ones out there, a lot of it is outdated and unfinished/just simply bad). If there's any support, leave it, though if there feels no need for a new rulings thread, I suppose that is fair as well.
newhat
The sheer number of rulings makes it impossible to compile everything together. Even the Wikia has incomplete information on the breakdown of the Damage Step, for instance.

Even the Wikia has incomplete information on the breakdown of the Damage Step, for instance. Well it's obviously not going to be complete, but rather just take all the rulings people ask about and using those so there's no repeats, and the general questions people have won't go on a repeat. I still see people asking about the rules of Xyz Monsters for instance. Of course google would work, though as you said, the Wikia doesn't have the complete infomation (I would like to know what exactly you mean by that) so it's not always easy to find what you need, which is what I want it to be. I assume most would want that as well.
Nathanael D. Striker
Zazu, you do realize the OP wasn't the first post. That happened back when YCM was glitching and buggy. You can see a few posts down that the first post was a year older than the supposed OP. And tbh, I really think that something like that should happen. Though it requires someone to dedicate their time to do and not a lot of people are willing to do that.

Guest
So I was thinking, should we get a new rulings thread? No.I'm asking this because the thead isn't all that great, I mean the first post is just a question. For what reason do you have to believe that your thread would be better then the current one?I once tried to make something that compiled a lot of different rulings into one, but I never got around to finishing it, and it was too complex as well,So again, why are we even entertaining this idea?though there're still things that I would like to see, such as a list of answered rulings so you could more easily look them up and a complete guide to the rules of YGO (there aren't many good ones out there, a lot of it is outdated and unfinished/just simply bad).Sounds like it would end as a big dumb unorganized mess.No support. Zazubat
No. For what reason do you have to believe that your thread would be better then the current one? So again, why are we even entertaining this idea? Sounds like it would end as a big dumb unorganized mess. No support. Why would you think it would be that? Because you're incompetent at making it yourself? Your argument (if you can even call it that) does not have any points rather than "nope it shouldn't be". Come back when you have some points that actually make sense.
Guest
Why would you think it would be that? Because you're incompetent at making it yourself?Yep.Show me otherwise and I'll gladly secede. Your "suggestion" is just a complaint. It's like finding an empty fridge and declaring to your roommate "someone should buy milk." Are you gonna be the one to do it? We both know I won't because I'm "incompetent". What specifically do you want done, other then a new topic? What specifically do you want done, other then a new topic? It's not an argument because you haven't raised a point. Present a problem Explain how it is a problem Present a solution Explain why your solution is best You've got the presenting part down, now get some explaining going Problem: Read OP. I also want to state that a complete rulebook and a list is just something extra that would be a nice addition, not something needed, though I would personally like it a lot. Why it's a problem: I too often see that many ask the same questions, really simple questions, and that they ask in ways that make it hard for the answerer to actually decipher what the question is suppose to mean, and because of the somewhat complex nature of the structure of YGO cards, there's many times where not explaining something correctly can change the outcome completely. Solution: Well, read the thread name. A new thread (or the thread with a new OP, though I don't know if that would be possible) would make it possible. Making it so everbody knew how to word it so everybody knew what you actually meant, as well as the other suggestions I made, that would make the thread much more useful. Best solution: A worse solution would be to note try to take one at all, when my solution would be an improvement to the pretty horrible thead that it is right now. evilfusion
The ruling thread is supposed to be a Q+A thread, where people can go to ask questions and have other users answer them. Over time, you can usually pick up on things, and of course no one is going to read the thread in its entirety. It's not there for browsing or gathering information, it's mostly just a dumping grounds for minor questions and confusions so that those questions don't spam up the TCG section. For that reason, making a new rulings thread wouldn't help. If you can find yourself or others with the time and interest to create a compilation of most of the rulings and mechanics that wind up there in a concise post, you may feel free to submit it to...well, to me, I suppose. The biggest issue would be looking at old lore in addition to PSCT, being able to clearly and accurate determine the differences between the two to give accurate explanations for them, plus know the logic of how the cards work, plus the exceptions that to this day may not even make full sense, plus include a few notes about how the TCG tends to make some rulings confusing. In other words, compiling the generalizations and specifics of most of the cards in the game.
