Mr.Robot
What the title said. What movies you think will be considered as a cult classic and why.
L0SS
The Master: An amazing character study, and; although well received critically, rather under appreciated by most people. The directing and acting was pretty flawless. An amazing looking film. Definitely the best film of 2012. There Will Be Blood is the same, it's Kubrickian in style, as well as being dark and rich and powerful. Also one of the best performances of all time from Daniel Day Lewis. Already a classic in my book. Drive is another film that I think deserves more recognition; that intense 80s feel, juxtaposed with some intense violence, set over a romance. How can it not become a classic? What retro inspired cinema should be. I'll probably think of more.

Cloister
Hobo with a shotgun. And Human centipede.
L0SS
Hobo with a shotgun. And Human centipede. Yes and no. Another couple: Napoleon Dynamite (kind of is already), and Sideways (which is awesome). I'd also say Zodiac, as it was underrated at the time of it's release, but is arguably Fincher's best film. L0SS
Batman Trilogy (Christopher Nolan) The Dark Knight? Yes. The other two, I don't think so. The first was decent; the third was disappointing, and average at best. As we're talking about The Dark Knight, Heat will almost certainly be known as one of Michael Mann's best. A really brilliant crime drama, and an obvious inspiration for Nolan.
Mr.Robot
Hobo with a shotgun. And Human centipede. Yes and maybe, if you're looking it in as "It's so bad, it's good" kind of way or as a classic cult horror. It's pretty polarizing to be honest. Yes and no. Another couple: Napoleon Dynamite (kind of is already), and Sideways (which is awesome). I'd also say Zodiac, as it was underrated at the time of it's release, but is arguably Fincher's best film. Napoleon Dynamite's more of a sleeper hit than a cult classic. The movie made it's money and earn more through merchandising. Movie was a commercial success and only the critic labeled it as a cult classic. Gentlemen Broncos was more of a cult classic compared to Napoleon Dynamite. Sideways' pretty far from what one would call as a cult movie. Agreed on Zodiac and it's still is very underrated. Critics were very divided on it and it did poorly on the box office even though he word of mouth about it was pretty strong. Movie's also a coveted classic cult horror in the horror community. Batman Trilogy (Christopher Nolan) A commercial success and was loved by both fan and critics. Classic-Yup. Cult Classic-Nope. The Dark Knight? Yes. The other two, I don't think so. The first was decent; the third was disappointing, and average at best. As we're talking about The Dark Knight, Heat will almost certainly be known as one of Michael Mann's best. A really brilliant crime drama, and an obvious inspiration for Nolan. Find me a better superhero origin movie and then we can talk how "decent" BB was. TDK was perfect and TDKR while not perfect still is a good film. And no, the biggest inspiration for Nolan during the making of the Bat-Trilogy was the James Bond films. L0SS
On second thought, I agree with your point about Napoleon Dynamite. As for Sideways, I felt it was funny and smart and quite tragic; and deserved more general support and reverence than it received. I think it will stand the test of time well. Find me a better superhero origin movie and then we can talk how "decent" BB was. Yes, BB is the best superhero origin movie. But that's not really saying much. It was a good starting point, visually pretty impressive, and the plot was handled well. A well-rounded film, by all means; but not exceptional. As for TDKR, it was far too overblown and silly to really work. The plot was all over the place, in contrast to the relative simplicity of the concepts and narratives of the other two; and I actually thought it was slightly campy. There is no denying the visual strength of the three films, Wally Pfister is a very talented cinematographer, but TDKR should have ended on an intimate, emotional level; and it didn't. It ended on an anticlimactic villain showdown and death, and a sort of cop-out twist/teaser that felt like they'd tried to come up with a twist for the sake of it. Billy Batson
Dredd? It was criminally underrated. Come On! And Scott Pilgrim?

Mr.Robot
Dredd? It was criminally underrated. Come On! And Scott Pilgrim? Almost forgot bout Dredd's existence and yeah, I agree, along with Scott Pilgrim. Wreck It Ralph, The Avengers, MAYBE I Am Legend. I don't watch a whole lot of movies. Those movies are probably the opposite of what one would think of as cult movies.
