You may have Progenitor Mimic enter the battlefield as a copy of any creature on the battlefield except it gains "At the beginning of your upkeep, if this creature isn't a token, put a token onto the battlefield that's a copy of this creature."

 

I love this card. In standard it's kinda slow but has combo potential. I mean a Thragtusk every turn? Heck yea! On paper at least, so long as it doesn't get speared :/

But I'm more loving it for its interactions in my EDH deck (animar). For a mear 2 mana, I can copy things like Terastodon from my side or Grave Titan from someone else's side. Then get another every turn. The interactions between this card and just about any other non-legendary are completely dumb and just make this a target straight out.

Clone is cool for being lower cost, but I love this guy for the token. That's about it.

Yea, when I finally get around to updating my Animar EDH deck this is going in. With all the value creatures in commander not to mention being able to kill someone elses commander this thing is sweet. Also, populate is something you can do.

Well not really in animar since you only have access to 1 populate card iirc (Druid's Deliverance, which isn't bad, but only 1 card).

But yea, your going to be Bant to abuse the populate fun, but it is still a realistic thing you can do.
