Good day fellow... people. I will attempt to write something in the style of a Light Novel. Emphasis on attempt. Do note that this will/may contain signs of the harem genre, absolute mythology butchering, unexplainined mechanics, mediocre world building, stuff that aren't revealed and may never be, and 1-2 metre class Titans. Yes, those Titans. Now sit back, relax, and enjoy. Feel free to critique.

Book 1
Prologue

I had always believed that gods were but mere works of fiction. Simple concepts that existed in before science took its place to explain things. Despite being a part-time researcher on mythology under the footsteps of my archeologist father, I know rather little about what I had once considered fictitious concepts.

What I never knew was that these 'fictitious' beings were responsible for what happened five years ago.

Five years ago, a series of natural disasters dawned upon humanity. Earthquakes, floods, thyphoons and even volcanic eruptions. This series of disasters have not stop and still occur everyday. I soon learnt that these were caused by the grand finale of the gods - Ragnarok.

Ragnarok was said to be a great war which marks to end of the world. While it was said to be great, I soon learnt how great this war truly was.

My tale began when I met a girl on that fateful day...

Chapter 1

I spread out my umbrella, for it was raining heavily. It had been raining very often recently. There were worse times, like frequent earthquakes, short droughts and most notably, the recent eruption of the formerly dormant volcano Mt. Fuji. I was getting used to these unexplainable frequent weather conditions for years, so I really couldn't care less.

I strolled along the drizzle while kicking a small rock on the way home. That was precisely when the rain grew heavier. Eventually, it started to rise above my shoes. Since such things often happened in Japan, or in fact, the rest of the world as well, I saw it as just another flood.

All was alright and rather normal until I heard a hiss, akin to that of a snake. Additionally, I saw a elongated, serpentine figure slithering along the water. It was pretty big for a snake. Was it a living fossil? It had to be one, because it was practically impossible for a snake of such gargantuan size to exist in this day and age.

"I ssssee you."

Chills went down my spine. It was definitely from that voice, and not the rain. Just then, I felt something slimy sliding across my thighs. That was when I tensed up. Sweat started dripping down from my forehead despite the cold weather .

"Who- who goes there?" I questioned. That was when a scaly, blue serpentine beast emerged from the water. Its began to coil around my figure before gazing upon my eyes, sending me into a hypnotice trance.

The serpent was manipulating my thoughts for a while. "My name isss not important asss of yet. I require your aid in a rather important quessst.

These continuous chain of words were broken by an impeding force that seemed to be magical in nature.

"Can't let you do that, Leviathan," a voice boomed. I turned to the source of the voice and found but a little, prepubescent girl. She seemed to be dresses up in a purple witch outfit, complete with a hat and robe. She wielded an odd, ochre staff, one end with a key, the other with a torch. So the snake is a Leviathan, huh? Then, who is this girl? It's at the tip of my tongue, I thought for a while before freeing myself from the now-loose binds of the sea serpent. The girl continued to spew flames at the snake, causing it to scream. This was when an epic battle began.

This was definitely not the time to wonder why a sea serpent wasn't in the sea, or why the girl had such immense power, or how they are existing. Who was this girl, anyways? I stared in shock and dismay as they continuously punched each others guts out. The little girl was literally frying fish in the middle of the rain. The serpentine fish growled in pain as its scales were charred from the lady's powerful blaze.

"I believe it isss wissse not to facccce a Titan like you alone. I will return..." the burning sea serpent slithered with speed before the girl could connect her flames with the serpent's scales with another strike. As soon as the snake left, the flood began to subside, but the rain was strong as ever.

Soon, the girl sat on the wet ground and appeared to be sneezing, even though they sounded like a frog's croaks to me.

I believe I recognise this girl. I had previously read up on mythology and immeditately believed that she was a god, even though I initially thought gods were but fiction. It had to be a god, because no ordinary human could perform such a feat.

The Leviathan mentioned she was a Titan. She used flames as a form of offense. Heqet was the frog-faced Egyptian Goddess of fertility. The staff was a torch and key. I believe I recognise her.

Heqet... Heqet... Hecate. The young girl was the Greek Goddess of witchcraft, Hecate. She was sneezing- or croaking badly. I held my umbrella over her head while she looked up to me with an adorable face. I helped her up and took her to the nearest shelter - my home. I had tonnes of questions for her, ranging from 'If you are a Titan, why are you so tiny?' to 'What is your relation with Egyptian Goddess Heqet?' Of course, some of these questions were too sensitive, so I thought I would leave them out. But first, I needed to confirm that she was indeed Hecate.

I carried the child in my arms as she began to doze off. Just like a baby.

---

"Oh... you... wha- this is how you repay me? Popping my cherry when we first meet? I barely even know you!"

Hecate wailed the minute she saw my face. I figured that a big misunderstanding would occur. I glared into her face with my demonic-looking eyes, causing her to chicken out. I was once mocked for having eyes so intimidating and grotesque that all avoided me. Now that I look back, this isn't really as exaggerated as it seems.

"Tha- that- alright, alright, I'm sorry for freaking out, alright," the girl pouted prior to introductions, "by the way, my name is Hecate. Triple Goddess Hecate. I'm the greatest goddess of witchcraft you will ever meet! Surely you believe me, do you?"

She said it.
She just said it. Just like that.
I didn't have to ask. I almost wanted to label it as a case of eighth-grader syndrome, but the Leviathan, and her fire, was no dream at all.

She sneezed like a frog's mating call. Yup, it was definitely not a dream.

"Well, my name is Kaoru Tachibana. Nice to meet you, Hecate. So, what brings you here? You don't look very local to me," I questioned, in pretense that I was unaware that she was a goddess.

"You see now, Ragnarok happened. It's a pretty long story. I met lots of comrades who fought alongside the Tyr Faction against the Loki faction. I died, and fell to Earth in this state. That's a whole summary for you," Hecate briefly described her current situation.

Wait, wasn't Ragnarok a Norse event? Why is an Olympian involved? Don't people die when they are killed? Is there a Norse God named after Hecate, like how Hecate was named after Heqet? Much confusion was gushing out of my brain upon the thought of these questions.

I decided to go with it.

Hecate needed some time to rest, so I thought I would leave the room. Just then...

"Wait, don't go yet..."

Could it be? But we just met! I simply submitted to the damsel in distress and approached her.

She embraced my body. "Thank you, Kaoru, I know we just met, but..."

For one who researches on Greek mythology for a part-time living, I knew little of the mysterious Hecate. She may steal my soul, or even transform into a collosal Titan before devouring me. I tensed up, ready for what was coming.

"... can I stay here?"

Stunning.

The ironically miniscule Titan smiled. I hestitated, for we just met, and I couldn't really trust her that much. I suppose a few days wouldn't hurt...

"Alright, alright, you can stay, but don't mess things up," I sighed.

"Thank you Kaoru, we're going to be best friends!" The Triple Goddess croaked once more before she gave me an even greater hug that previewed her titanic strength.

We then looked out of the window together as the rain began to clear.

"Look over there," Hecate chirped like a little kid. She pointed to a seven-coloured strip of light, a phenomenom I had not seen in a long while. In fact, these natural occurences, known as rainbows, have been gone for five long years and were never to be seen again, until now.

"It- it's beautiful," I stuttered, feeling rather stunned by the appearance of the rare rainbow.

"It sure is," Hecate smiled, "I never thought I'd see one again."

The goddess winked at me, hinting something. Surely she couldn't be behind this, could she?

---

The next morning, I woke up, only to find Hecate clinging onto me. Apparently she was drooling on my pyjamas.

"He- hey!" I wailed. Hecate's empty chest rubbed against my arm. Nothingness. She was fast asleep, repeatedly muttering 'Kaoru'. It was astonishingly creepy, especially since we just met. I walked out of my room and into the kitchen, only to see that the Greek Goddess had just finished cooking breakfast.

"Wha- but you were-"

I stuttered for a while. Hecate was in my room a few seconds ago. Now she was here. This was getting weird, until I remembered something.

"Hecate is a three-formed being, which is precisely how you managed to split into three," I guessed smartly. It was general knowledge to me that Hecate existed as three forms in her previous depictions.

"You got that right," a pyjamas-clad Hecate walked out my room with her long, ruffled hair. There were two of them, and I probably did not need to worry about the third. After consuming the breakfast Hecate Clone II cooked for me, I thanked her and headed out for school, clad in my long-sleeved sailor uniform.

This was one of the times I was glad my parents were not here to see the bizarre lady I had brought home.

---

As I entered the class, I heard my classmates muttering about rumours of a new transfer student.

I then approached my closest acquaintance in the class, the eyepatch-bearing Rin Mikoto. "So, this new transfer student... what are they talking about?"

"Why not you listen for yourself?" she replied rudely while remaining emotionless, "everyone is talking about it."

"New transfer student..."
"... really gorgeous Italian chick..."
"... loli body..."
"... amazingly cute..."
"... name was Trivia something."

Those were the very words my ears were capable of picking up. 'Trivia' happened to be the Roman equivalent of Hecate. Their descriptions too, happened to match Hecate. I was going to pass it as a mere coincidence. Even so, I believe that Hecate wasn't stupid enough to use her Roman counterpart's name as an alias to blend in.

The teacher walked in with the new student.

The gods must be trying to play with my mind. Somewhere, somehow, someone hates me.

"Class, we have a new transfer student today. Alright Trivia, introduce yourself," the teacher said.

Yes, it was Hecate. This was one of the times where I wished that I could wall myself up to avoid that Titan. It was hard to believe how the reasonable judge of the underworld became such a carefree, energetic yet absolutely clingy and annoying lady. Hecate put a hand near her face, covering half of it while revealing both eyes, akin to some pose from some cartoon.

"Good day everyone, my name is Trivia Blandelli, and I am Kaoru's wi-"

Trivia Blandelli? She really tries hard to hide her identity. The Triple Goddess was going to turn my life upside down, so I gave her another intimidating glare.

"- I mean best friend."

That felt much better. Hecate, or rather, Trivia Blandelli, sat right in front of me. Every once in a while during lessons, she would talk to me, which I wasn't used to, being a rather antisocial person. For some reason, I felt less lonely when she was around. She walked home with me after school, which resulted in me asking her a couple questions.

"Hecate, why me?"

"You will see why," Hecate replied as she shrugged her shoulders. "Only time can tell." She ended that sentence with a wink.

"If you are a Titan," I asked a second question, "why are you so petite?"

She seemed to have snapped.
She gazed into my eyes with a face filled with anger, before she grabbed me by my ribbon.

"I'm sorry I asked a sensitive question, alright?" I apologised to her while patting her head.

"I'll forgive you since we're friends," Hecate crossed her arms and pouted, with her head turning away from me.

Something tells me that this is going to be a very long year.
