Number 13:Cain's Devil/Number 31:Abel's Devil [MANGA]

Rank 1

500 ATK/??? DEF

When both player's Life Points are equal to or less than half of the starting Life Points and this card is in your Extra Deck: Destroy all monsters you control, and if you do, Special Summon this card.

When you do, your Life Points become 1000, then you must inmediately declare an attack.

When "Cain's Devil" and "Abel's Devil" attacks each other, they are not destroyed by that battle, also your opponent takes damage equal to your monster's ATK.

{Damage dealt in this Duel becomes severe agonizing pain.}

Both cards have the same effect

Just...wat?

This is, I don't even.......

*opens mouth to say words, but closes mouth with no words*

I'm completely at a loss of words for this.  This is just, idk.

13 and 31 decided to be polar opposite numbers that are focused on killing each other, AND the people who use them?  I'm not even sure how the international censors will even treat this.  So Shadow manipulated it so that Kite and Shark will kill each other, just because he hates them?

Because Yagumo hates them, and Shadow works for Yagumo.

OT: No way the real things resemble this in any way, not sure how much point there is in discussing these effects.

because currently this is all we know about them, theyre a fun and goofy effect, and we can try to figure out how konami will manage to make them work when it comes time for a release. thats a lot of fruitful discussion that can be made. O_~*

and, what agonizing pain are we talking about here?  Chains burning whenever they take damage, and then they are burned alive while crucified?  That sounds like a horrible way to go.

What the hell?

I get the feeling the entire effects of both will be remade for the OCG. It's interesting that they're counterparts, but they'll pretty much unplayable without the other, and they're not really playable WITH the other, either.

@Max: I think the question was more "In what fashion is pain inflicted to the Duelist's body", with examples like burning chains.

Once per duel: Punch your opponent in the face.

Too bad Konami's going to nerf these cards. :(

Not so much nerf as completely restructure imo.

How in the heck do these things even work?

Do you specifically have to have one and your opponent the other?
Or can you give yourself one and your opponent the other?
And why is everyone mentioning painfulness? How are these things painful?

If you have 8000 or less Life Points, destroy your monsters, summon it, go straight to the battle phase and attack with it. If it attacks its counterpart, they don't die and both inflict 500 damage to their opponent. And any damage dealt causes you to get hit by an intense crucio curse.

Why?
Why would you even use these cards?
These two creatures are singlehandedly the most pointless cards I have ever seen in this game.

As often seen in Yu-Gi-Oh! series, the antagonists and their main monsters tend to somehow make virtual damage real. In the original series, Shadow Games often drained energy or caused pain, either physical or mental. In GX, it was similar. In 5Ds, the Earthbound Gods not only absorbed souls upon Summon, but physically damaged the surroundings and players. The Infinity Trio created a sort of infinity symbol around the players that made the shock of monster attacks inflict real damage. In Zexal, Duels involving Numbers cause players to become fatigued and the knockback seems to be genuinely painful.

Here, it seems to be the same thing, except ramped up by 100x or something, as in, damage becomes torturous pain.

I agree. I don't read the manga, so my hunch is either the players (Shark and Kaito?) were given the Numbers before the Duel, and the effects could be mandatory.

I know that, but I didn't know if this was a manga effect or what.
BECAUSE NO ONE SAID ANYTHING.

Anyways, what is the point of these things?
And as I asked before, do you Special Summon one to your opponent's side of the field and the other to your own?
Otherwise, I see no reason to use this card.
