Skill Drain

Recommended Posts

I. HATE. SKILL. DRAIN.

It is my antithesis card, and I hope it dies in a burning pit of fire of redundancy, so that it can experience its own death over and over AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER!!!!!

ahem, sorry for that outburst.  I just HATE having my monster effs negated while my opponent dodges Drain.  What a bunch of wontons.

Depending on what decks I use, Skill Drain might or might not be that relevant, but I still don't like how it is one of those "shut down mechanic" cards in the game. I generally hate those.

It is usually about luck more than skill when I've faced it in the past. If I have deck that needs to have cards on the field to operate, it pretty much auto-loses to Skill Drain, carrying around Dark Bribes and the such to protect it, from my MSTs. If I had a heavy Graveyard-centric deck that always moved with cards like Stardust and Sangan, and/or made quick Synchro giants, I wouldn't care all that much, but it wouldn't really be that I "played around it".

Then again, sometimes Skill Drain + Necro Valley + 4k beatsticks will be a thing. It's so annoying.

Most importantly, you know that when you lost like that to that sort of deck, it's not all that fun, because something happened to not let you play and you had no outs.

Though, I can see why top tier decks wouldn't care. Those usually have a lot of speed, destruction effects, and swarm potential of big enough monsters, while Skill Drain isn't that searchable.

The main Decks right now activate just enough effects on the field that this isn't viable in them, but will not hinder them as much as the minus the opponent takes by running them.

Almost every single Xyz Monster activates and resolves on the field, so playing this will just stop them.

Well resolving on the field doesn't matter since only the physical location matters.

Just pointing it out.

Oh and Dracossack can tribute itself to avoid it.

In some cases it does. Some say "This card must be face-up on the field to activate and to resolve this effect" or something like that. But yes, I do know that.
