A rather interesting idea I had...

Okay, so I was thinking of 'what-if' scenarios, and one popped to mind -

 

"What if Yugi's aims were not those of memories or friendship? What if Yugi's aims were to bring hope to others? What if the Shadow Games were a means of bringing despair to people, and Yugi was the only one to turn things around?"

 

Weird concept, but I think it might be kinda epic.

 

Here's what I got so far;

 

 

Ushio regarded the youth with a strange wonder.

 

“So, you think that my bull-headed ally would be so foolish as to hurt you, Yugi?”

 

“No, he wouldn’t,” Yugi replied, his voice sounding slightly deeper, “But perhaps, it may be interested in a small battle of cards.”

 

“A Duel Monsters game?” Ushio noted, “That crappy game you and your friends talk about from time to time?”

 

“Actually, I was thinking of just the same thing. However, this will be a far more interesting battle, as our cards will be representations of real monsters and magic,” Yugi replied back, “This will be a Shadow Game.”

 

“...Well, what do you think, Ushi-Oni?” Ushio asked his friend.

 

“On these modified rules,” Ushi-Oni replied, “We only have one monster to battle with, and these monsters are indestructible as long as they remain on the field. Spells and Traps can be used as often as needed, and the game ends when our lifepoints hit zero. Win, youngster, and you are free to give me any orders you wish. Lose, and you’re our slave for the rest of the school year.”

 

“Ah, Single-Monster Duel, I see,” Yugi noted, “And I assume your monster is the Ushi Oni.”

 

“Yep!” Ushio replied, “We’re gonna wipe the floor with you!”

 

“Might as well,” Yugi replied, “And my monster is... Dark Magician.”

 

And appearing before Yugi and Ushio, a man in dark clothing and a preposterously stylish hat appeared, staff in hand and grim in face.

 

“Time to Duel,” Yugi replied.

 

Not much, but it'll have to do. I wonder how it'll turn out?
