It's funny, cause the Vita has no region lock, and I don't think the PS3 does either, but I could be wrong.

Can't say about the Vita, but the PS3 leaves it up to the publishers. I think leaving it up to the publishers is Sony's method for that and used games for the PS4, too.

There is also the fact that the Xbox isn't really as popular anywhere but America.

You know, I'm totaly fine with the devolopers choosing to not allow their games to be sold used, but the fact that the consoles makers are the people who decide if they can in the first place is just bullshit. If Sony is doing that, all the more respect to them for me.

So to summarize, the Xbox One can do all sorts of things with TV, but when it comes to games, the only thing it doesn't have an unnecessary restriction for is a brand-new Xbox One game you've bought for yourself in the same region you bought your console.

Fixed for even more accuracy. Although, lord knows they might find a way to region lock the console as well. They will probably try.

I got an idea.

"You can only play the system in the area you buy it from. For example, you cannot import a Japanese system in order to play a Japanese game. You actually have to go to Japan whenever you want to play on a Japanese Xbone. Furthermore, Xbone's are not allowed to be carried on airplanes, even if you'll just be going to a different part of the same country."

Security: "Sir, is that an Xbox One that you're are carrying with you today?"

Consumer: "No... It's a 360. It's a 360, Okay!?"

Security: "Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to step out of line."

Consumer: "What for?"

Security: "I'm gonna need to frisk you, sir, and search your luggage."

Consumer: "No - Please, not the luggage!"

Security: "We've got a Kinect Sensor here. That's it, we've hit the payload! You're going down, Mother fucker!"

Consumer: "I just want to play new releases a couple of days early! You've got it all wrong!"

Security: "That's what they all say. People like you make me sick.

Right, handcuff him boys; and get on the phone to Mr Gates, tell him: 'The cat is in the bag'.

I imagine that's how it would play out.

You know, the problem is that they won't make any money for imports, which is a real shame, and since it costs a lot of import games, due to translation and such, it's sometimes not worth it, and really it's a double edged sword in that regard; they can't really win. I see why they do this, and while I am not a fan, I can see why they would do that. On the other hand, you could also just go to Japan, and buy the game there, at least then they would make money. Oh, and I am aware that there are some sites which do give a procentage to the devolopers.

I just can't understand advocating a used game profit system under the pretense of 'helping developers', when you region lock and prevent imports which still support developers. In all honesty I can't understand the point of region locking at all, unless its a bigger deal than I think.

The only people I know who import do it because of foreign games, but they buy localized version too. Unless I'm mistaken, buying foreign games help skew the numbers for a translated version?

I don't know how big the number of loses is, but seeing as the otherwise regionlockfree PS3 got a game which was region locked, its safe to say that there's probably a lot of devolopers who wish for that to be a staple.
