Which just goes to show that actually giving a damn about your fans will backfire horribly.

I doubt it backfired due to that.

The Wii-U (IMO) fails because it lacks the full power of it's competitors (even the older gens). The Wii-U is a good console to me, but I have to admit, it doesn't really have the games that I love on it, even though it has the power to play them.

For instance, Blazblue, Fable(original, TLC, and 2. not 3), Phantasy Star online2, Dead Space Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, games like those can be handled by the Wii-U's operating system, but (to the best of my knowledge) it has nothing like that, and as such, many gamers I know don't really want to buy it. I promise you, if the Wii-U had the kind of power that a, PS4, and held a selection of games from as may varying companies as the other 2 competitors, it would be a monster up there with the current rumors of the PS4s abilities.

and if even half of the rumors about the Xboxone are true, then it's still gonna be a better system than the xbox one

and on the topic of backwards compatibility, there are some EXELLENT games for the ps2 that don't exist or have a continuation on the ps3. for those of us who:

no longer have a ps2

sold/traded it for needed money/ games

broke it

never had one

finally got our hands on a ps2 game we wanted but could never find/afford while we had one

finding a game that we've never played can haunt us. I don't really care about graphics, so that's a moot point, and when I (Finally) found the Dot Hack series, the Xenosaga series, and Shadow of Colossus, I was seriously hoping for a way to play it, but I couldn't due to the backwards compatibility issue.

What I'm getting at is that there are a lot of people who like the occasional backwards compatibility perks, and are willing to put out to buy an alternate system version that can do these things. it can have a little less ram, a bit less power or just cost more, but the fact is, satisfying that niche can be really helpful in the long run, good gaming companies are always the best places to spend some extra money on.

Backwards compatibility is kind of an odd area, but its a good one to put some time into, if Nintendo hadn't missed on as many other areas as it did; the low computing power in relation to possibilities of modern game systems, the -currently- narrow game selection, relatively small internal hard drive, and odd controls(this can be easily fixed by putting out a regular controller with a smaller/possibly detachable screen later on though) I might have ended up actually saving for one.

I know I said it could have less, but the amount of things it's missing as a main console, combined with the fact that I don't like that many of the system titles anyways (Gamecube years excluded) means that I don't need this. But to those who love the older and current years, plus have games they want for the new system, I guarantee they'll love it, earning loyal fans who know they won't get shafted *XboxOneStyle* in the face by their favored company.

It's a respectable system to me, and if I had the money to spare I'd get it, but I don't, so I'm not gonna waste the time to get it in the hopes of a new smash bros (the reason I love the Wii) if it gets a game selection within its limits that gamers like, it'll become another great system, but for now its just gonna have to wait.

I probably wen wildly off topic, but those are my thoughts

And hey, at least it beats Xboxone so far. :)

The Wii U's problem is that Nintendo dropped the ball on getting their own titles and exclusives out on time.

The specs do present some minor issues, but if you look at the graphics on the X1, the difference won't be big enough to make a difference.

Now that games are actually coming out, and both competing systems have been announced, the Wii U might stand a chance.  Wii U sales in the UK shot up 875% after that conference.

My point is that by having the system close enough to the Wii so that it could be backwards compatible, the Wii U was limited in power and thus couldn't achieve the heights that Nintendo wants to. If they were to make a more powerful system while also having backwards compatibility for the Wii, it would have driven the price up far too much. Thus, they had to choose between making a more powerful system and having something that could ease people into it, and so they decided to go for letting people transition onto the new system with their Wii games. Dropping the backwards compatibility of GameCube games made sense because that's two generations ago, and it would have further limited the system's power or raised the price further if they kept it.

This had 300 views when I first saw it, but it's pretty funny to see how unoriginal the company is and what sort of stupidity fanboys are willing to defend.

Am i the only one tempted to make a remix in fruity loops with this video?

My opinion on the whole thing is that as far as cosmetics go, i prefer the 720 concept. that one at least showed creativity, advancement, and down right looked cool. as opposed, the Xbox one, which severely reminds me of my VCR, is just an oversized simplistic black box. and if they really wanted to do a "One" model, they should have done it before 360.

the mandatory internet connection kind of ruins the purchase value for me, because i only have internet while at the library. which would mean i would have to cart the whole system and everything down and back just to use the system.

the three OS is just idiotic. not only is it going to eat up TONS of memory, but also leads me to believe there are going to be a lot of software issues as well.

the only game at all that they have talked about is COD Ghosts, which i admit, COD has good things going for it for the time being. plus the dog is cute as hell.

backwards compatibility not being there just pisses me off.

and having your friends buy the game that you already bought just to borrow it? AT RETAIL? I might as well wait till i beat it and then sell it to them for that.

I think ill just keep to my 360 and watch the company burn itself to the ground with this one.

It wasn't so much that Nintendo dropped the ball. It was more so that they passed it to the 3rd party companies to let them have some time in the sun and they dropped it.

I honestly don't see the point in pushing pure power anymore. The whole "dirt under fingernails" thing made me realize, what the hell is the point. Putting such fine detail into it is nice, but people aren't going to care about it. Hell, in game people likely won't even be able to see a lot of the fine details put into a fast pace game.

When I saw that I personally died laughing. You know something went wrong when your big reveal drove up your competition's sales that much.

Nothing new today.

They seem to want emphasys on "talk with friends while you play" as a way to promote the product. When I DO play videogames, I personally play on my own. I like it better that way.

Also, I dislike the image they give that having the friends actually present in the room is like that. I've had more fun when they DO come over and do stuff.

For things like online shooters and such, I'd say it's necessary, but otherwise I just don't see that appeal.

Not to mention, I wouldn't quite call the commersial "informative".

Oh XBox why? u.u"

Jesus.

Seems like I'm sticking to buying an Xbox 360 and a PS4.  Along with a WiiU since fuck the haters, I want the new SSB when it comes out.

Keeping my PS3 as well.  Wish I had my old PS3 since it could have played PS1 and PS2 games but oh well....  Anyone else wishes the fat cats could pull their head out of their asses and ACTUALLY consistently make a console for hardcore gamers with some other media player as an extra instead of listening to market researchers who say "WE SHOULD INVEST IN ADDING NON GAMING STUFF TO A GAME FOCUSED PRODUCT!!"?  I mean, the PS2 had it right when it came out.  Played mostly games and was a CD/DVD player.  And look what happened.  It became a zombie console that lived on for a decade or so and that's fucking impressive.

The quicker the fat cats can stop whoring themselves out to everyone and settle down with one group, the quicker they'll get our cash.  Seriously, if you're in the video game hardware business focus first on hardware for gamers and then add shit that gamers would want as extras.  E.G. Netflix, browsers, or Blu Ray playing capabilities.  Fuck, one selling point that will ALWAYS get me to buy a console if it's backwards compatible.  Do that shit and you'll get most people to buy it.  Not to mention what the fuck is happening to devs trying to impress us with graphics and unimportant stuff like "round stuff up close" or improved smoke and glass effects.  Fuck that noise, if I wanted improved visual effects, I'd go watch a good CGI filled American movie.  I want actual meaty improved gameplay and AI.  I'll take a crappy looking game that have early PS3 graphics and has good gameplay (MAG, Singularity) over a highly shiny and polished looking game that hasn't really evolved gameplay wise (CoD, Final Fantasy 13).

If there are no fees for used games then why not just come out and dismiss the rumors earlier? idgi
