Ok, I have no idea what is happening anymore.

Either somebody misspoke during an interview or MS realized what a terrible thing they have done and are in damage control mode now. Because they are contacting sites and saying that there is no fee, but the updated article from the guy who leaked it still says there is a fee. They also won't say how they 2nd hand market works with the X1 (they say to wait until E3) just that the articles are wrong. *shrug*

http://kotaku.com/xbox-one-does-require-internet-connection-cant-play-o-509164109

"And here's the bombshell:

Kotaku: If I’m playing a single player game, do I have to be online at least once per hour or something like that? Or can I go weeks and weeks?

Harrison: I believe it’s 24 hours.

Kotaku: I’d have to connect online once every day.

Harrison: Correct.

So the system is built to work even if your Internet connection goes down, but you still have to be connected at least once a day to use it, according to Harrison. We're not sure exactly what would happen if you don't connect once per day—and that timeframe could change—but this doesn't sound good for anyone who was hoping to use Xbox One without an Internet connection."

EDIT:

Update - Microsoft's Larry Hryb has issued the following clarification:

Another piece of clarification around playing games at a friend’s house – should you choose to play your game at your friend’s house, there is no fee to play that game while you are signed in to your profile.

What this means is that if you take a game to a friend's house and try to play the game on their system using their account, you'll need to pay. If you take it to their house and try to play it on their system using your account, you won't need to pay.

In other words: playing while you're there is free. If you want to lend it to them for a few days/weeks? They'll have to pay.

Update: Sounds like things are a mess over at Microsoft. Now they're telling Polygon that Harrison's comments illustrate a "potential scenario."

"While Phil [Harrison] discussed many potential scenarios around games on Xbox One, today we have only confirmed that we designed Xbox One to enable our customers to trade in and resell games at retail," a Microsoft rep said. "There have been reports of a specific time period — those were discussions of potential scenarios, but we have not confirmed any details today, nor will we be."

How is it possible for every person interviewed today to be wrong? lol idgi

Did anyone find the Xbox One box design to be rather boring? It took simplicity to a whole new level. It almost looks like a cable box... XD

On the other hand, the controller is pretty slick. The analog sticks really stood out for me and I hope they improved the D-Pad, although from the looks of it, I'm inclined to say it hasn't improved much if at all.

Which is funny considering how this is going to be a multimedia platform centered on television.

Overall, that reveal conference was atrocious. Sure, the news of a Halo TV series is great, but they didn't need to do it at the conference.
And the XBox One...where do I begin? It seems like Microsoft is shifting its focus from concentrating on hardcore gamers, which was the appeal behind the 360, and is trying to water down the XBox One by cramming it full of various features, including mandatory Kinect.
I really don't like the direction Microsoft has been going as they try to be more and more like Apple. I hate Windows 8 and its shift away from being a solid PC platform like Windows 7 to being touchscreen-focused without considering the more core demographic: desktop and laptop users. It's like they don't understand where their money is coming from, and are instead alienating the groups that pushed their last generation of products forward.

I thought the Halo series was suppose to only be on the Xbox One. And I mean, it's probably their best way to promote it, either here or at E3, and well, if I were Microsoft, I would also have chosen to reveal it here.

I'm surprised that you cared to do all that for just that comment. Congrats on wasting your time.

Oh, and this shows I much I know about Star Wars, I though it was Steven Spielberg that made that, but that's George Lucas, so I calling it Halowars was silly.

No need to be a prick.

...So, what you're saying is...

No Halo Wars tv series.

Well, all of my care just flew out the window.
