It is very simple, but at the same time it is quite good. I like the contrast of colours. I think this is a case of when simplicity is really bliss.

If I had to say one thing to you, it would be that the final product doesn't fully represent the creative process or effort put in. Also, adding anything would ruin the flow of the wallpaper, in my opinion. It is made to be in the background, so to speak. That being said, I still appreciate your comment, and would enjoy it if you had any constructive criticism to add.

What I ended up doing was taking this sprite and using the pen tool to trace it. GIMP is aggravating at some points to say the least, but the quality didn't turn out half as bad as I expected, and it looks a lot better than my first attempt.

 The OP did say minimal and I'd say it fits. I like the contrast between the silouhette (I can't spell) and render it's effective. The wallpaper more or less does as it's says.
