Super Polymerization

Just a card that's been on my mind lately. It's not a broken card in any way, but I don't really like the design, especially when the Omni HEROes exist,

And no, this is not the fault of the Omni HEROes. The very design of this card shrugs at player interaction, in the name of removal that works on ALMOST every single monster in the game. The balance to this removal? It's a -1 unless you circumvent it in some manner. The Omni HEROes just make it more versatile, but they do not change the core design,

It's certainly not a broken card, or a card that requires any sort of list attention right now, but the design is really off, and I felt like making a mini-rant on it and opening discussion on both the card itself and it's design.

i actually agree with you, and was just pondering this card myself. it really amounts to a fuck off button in e-heroes, and in practice functions like an extra 2-3 solemn warnings. even without the omni-heroes (who are middling outside of shining and zero) im sure people would find a way to abuse this. after all its not a hero fusion spell like miracle. it works for all fusion monsters.

Why not just fusion with them in the first place and save yourself the extra step? And after that, you're basically just saying that creature swap is good by itself. Anyways, I think "discard" balances it a bit. Inb4fables

I think the real problem of it all is that it's unnegatable. There really isn't any way to stop your monster from getting eaten up. I think without that clause it would be (obviously) less good, but still a worthy spot in heroes.

And another thing: Where else DO people run this besides heroes? Aside from a lulzy Elemental Dragon mirror match side tech.

I guess you can side deck this in Gem-Knghts against LIGHT decks..., but that's probably not that great.

I'm not sure, but I thought Super Poly existed before the Omni-HEROs. And in those days, it was pretty meh, considering the majority of the time, you'd be fusing only your monsters anyway, as not enough "generic" Fusions existed, and the ones that did would be much harder to set-up a Fusion with this, or required a Mirror match of some sort.

I've always been annoyed by the fact the card existed in the anime as a symbol of ultimate power, and was used by the Supreme King to pull out a victory by using one of his opponent's monsters with his own. But the Evil HEROs all required Dark Fusion or an effect treated as "Dark Fusion" to Summon, so you actually CAN'T use Super Polymerization for Dark Gaia or Malicious Fiend.

The Omni-HEROs are what made this card ridiculous, but only as they continued making them. Absolute Zero is a problem for entirely different reasons on its own, Shining prefers to be Summoned with Miracle Fusion or Fusion Gate than this, FIRE is rarely played in or out of HERO Decks, so Nova Master is awesome but limited, Gaia is only so-so but easy to Summon, Great Tornado was better when Synchros were all the rage as it laughed at Stardust (as did Draco-equites with this card), but Escuridao, while mediocre in terms of effect, completed the set, so now Super Poly could take over virtually ANY opponent's monster so long as you had an E-HERO out.
