a coffee
A couple of updates: 1. Twilight is back, no need to worry about my message a few posts up 2. Thank you Kneesocks, but I was actually kind of looking forward to playing Lacey; I should have specified that I was intending on keeping her. If you are still interested in playing an antagonist however, Feel free to write a pm to Zai and myself so we can sort out where you can fit your idea into the plot. Wave_Sine
Would this guy be able to replace one of the pre-built antagonists?
AntagonistName: Dr. Chad Roentgen NobleGender: MaleAge: 35Height: 6'1"Race: HumanBound Exile: Unit 0-87-Alpha(R-Genex Oracle)Deck(s): Unstable Reactor, basically combines the Reactor combo monsters with some Genex stuff for consistency. Once again, I can post the decklist.Physical description: Dr. Chad R. Noble is a tall, wiry man who on first appearances isn't too threatening. However, a closer look at his confident, yet twisted posture, the maniacal look on his face, and the horrible burn on the back of his left hand would unsettle many people. He wears simple wire-frame glasses and usually looks like he heeds to shave. His typical attire is a lab coat over a simple T-shirt and pair of khaki cargo paints. He has an incredibly severe burn in the shape of a radiation trefoil on the back of his left hand, and all the fingers on that hand save his index finger and thumb are blackened and necrotic. His Exile sits on his shoulder or head, as if a pet.Personality: Despite having been a promising doctor of nuclear physics and accomplished reactor inspector, Chad is incredibly unhinged. He sports many of the personality traits of stereotypical cartoon villains, including megalomania, egotism, sociopathy, and anger. He even treats the small disk-drive-shaped Exile he partnered with like it's some sort of cat. He has no qualms about harming people to fulfill his vague plans for 'world domination'. He has a hard time thinking across a situation logically unless he absolutely needs to. While picking up a scrap of metal on the floor of the pool, if fell on the back of his hand, causing radiation burns to the bone and killing nearly all the tissue. While this wasn't fatal, the radiation also caused bone cancer in the few remaining living bones in his hand, which metastasized to his brain, causing a tumor to begin putting pressure on the interior of his skull, causing headaches, and robbing his critical thinking regions of oxygen and nutrients, causing severe brain damage and changing his entire mental identity. BANZAI!!!!
Update: The Exile combat guide is nearing completion. It will mos likely be up tonight. As for my post, I apologize for taking so long, but i've had to do a lot of prep work, and this past week has been hectic. I promise it will be up soon. Here it is folks! feel free to pm me with any questions you may have. its up on the front page too.
Welcome to Yu-Gi-Oh! The Exiles’ Exile combat guide! Why a guide you ask? Because of the unique properties of an exile, actual combat between two monsters outside of a duel is very possible. However, because Exiles are still intimately tied to the actual game, cards from that game can still affect them. The guide is needed to explain how this works. What is Exile combat exactly? Well, Exile combat is a fight between two or more exiles, where one or more of the combatants is accompanied by a duelist ally. This duelist is necessary because of their ability to play cards the affect the exiles in combat. An exile without duelist support will generally be at a disadvantage. In the past 2 decades, exile combat has evolved into a form of warfare, and many humans and exiles have trained in it. How does Exile Combat work? For starters, exile combat is, as the title states, actual combat. There are no life points or turn phases. Its simply a fight. In fact, no gameplay rules from duel monsters apply to exile combat. Instead, it comes down to a matter of skill, strength, and luck. IMPORTANT TERMS: Cast- when in exile combat, cards are not played, they are cast. Casting is the same as playing the card, in that it involves the duelist placing the card on an active duel disk, however, once a card is cast, it is tied to the exile that it was played on (friend or foe) and will spontaneously combust if that exile dies in the current combat. Cards can only be cast if they would legally be able to affect an exile that is currently in combat in a game of duel monsters, or if they would legally be able to affect a card that is currently affecting an exile in a game of duel monsters. Otherwise, the card is useless. If a card is cast on a card that is not an exile, it is not subject to combustion if/when that card is destroyed. Affecting can mean negating an attack, augmenting stats, being used as summon material, or destruction. NOTE : destruction effects can occur, but they can be avoided just like a regular attack. Example1: If Zane Marcer wanted to equip Argentum Astrum with Dragon Nails, he would fish the card from his deck or collection, and cast it on to his duel disk. If Astrum were to die in the battle while equipped with dragon nails, both the Stardust Dragon card containing his soul and Dragon nails would then spontaneously combust. Example2: If Brione Madiste attacks Argentum Astrum in Exile Combat, Zane Marcer can cast mirror force on the attack. However, Brione is perfectly able to avoid the mirror force attack, and manages to dodge it with no ill effects. Summon Transform- the term used to refer to a temporary transformation of an exile into a new monster through the use of a tribute/synchro/ritual/xyz/fusion summon. It is conducted by using the appropriate cards from one’s deck in the same manner as a normal duel. All cards used in the summon are tied to the exile, and will combust along with the exile’s card should it die in battle. Example: If Joe Kandillo wanted to Summon Transform Brione into Blue Eyes White Dragon, he would remove Brione’s Aqua Madoor card, and one other monster from his duel disk’s monster zone, and then fish the Blue Eyes White Dragon card from his deck or collection, and cast it on his duel disk. If Brione would die in the battle, his card, the other tribute monster, and the Blue Eyes would spontaneously combust. Ward- In duel monsters, some cards come with effects that negate or prevent certain types of cards from affecting them. In Exile combat, these negate effects are called wards. Unlike duel monsters, however, a ward does not negate any cast card outright, but instead decreases the card’s effectiveness. If a ward is particularly strong , it may be able to stop a cast card all together. Wards are physical, and many manifest themselves in body parts of exiles. Others come from anti spell/trap spell or trap cards. Example1: Argentum Astrum’s wings possess an anti-destruction ward, and he is able to use his wings to block a strike from Brione, who is clad in Sakuretsu armor, and greatly lessen that damage. Example2: Justice’s Sword possesses an especially strong anti-spell ward, and he is able to use the sword to completely negate Zane’s Miracle Synchro Fusion spell by throwing it into the vortex, thereby stopping Zane from summon transforming Astrum into Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste. Example3: Zane Marcer casts Lightning Vortex against Brione Madiste. Joe Kandillo casts Magic Jammer to create an anti-spell ward around Brione, which drastically decreases the damage from the attack. Cost- Some spells and traps have a cost that must be paid in order to play them in duel monsters. If one of these cards were to be cast in Exile combat, these costs would also have to be paid. If the cost is a card (be it discard or tribute) then the card used will combust. If the cost is life points, then the user’s life force becomes the cost, making cards like Solemn Judgement very dangerous to use. HOW DIFFERENT TYPES OF CARDS WORK: TRAP CARDS: During exile combat, trap effects do not apply to the fight. Instead, any trap cast will become just as real as the exile, provided that it actually affects an exile, or card that affects an exile. For instance, a duelist casting a trap hole card will cause a sinkhole to open up in the ground underneath an exile’s feet, provided there is an exile on the ground when the trap is flipped. If there is no exile for it to target, then the duel disk will instead create a useless solid-vision hologram of the trap effect. Another example is mirror force. Casting mirror force when an opposing exile attacks will create an actual mirror force that reflects the attack back. However, this attack can be dodged just like any other, and it most certainly isn’t lethal (unless the attack that it is reflecting would be lethal). Traps do not have to be set on the disk to be used in exile combat, and can simply be played on command. However, a duelist must be able to fish the correct card out of his or her deck in a timely manner in order to be able to use it. SPELL CARDS: Spell cards work in much the same way as trap cards. Their gameplay effects do not apply, and they instead create a real version of whatever is on the card. The most common spell cards used in exile combat are equip cards, simply because they are the easiest way to augment an exile’s abilities. While equip spells don’t necessarily make an exile stronger, they provide an easy way to give an exile weapons. Kill spells (like smashing ground) are also common, but like trap cards their effects manifest in reality, and can therefore be avoided by dodging or anti-magic wards. MONSTERS: Monster cards are the most versatile cards in exile combat. While some, like union monsters, can augment an exile directly, the most common method of using monsters in exile combat is for tributes. Just like in a duel, if an exile is used as fusion/synchro/xyz material or a tribute for a ritual or normal summon, the exile’s soul transfers into the new body for the duration of the new card’s stint on the field. This holds true for exile combat as well, although these “summon transformations” are only temporary (they usually last from 15-30 minutes before they wear off and the exile reverts to its previous form). Be forewarned: if an exile is killed while in a transformed state, not only will it die, but all cards involved in the transformation will spontaneously combust. EXILES: Exiles are the focal points of exile combat. They do the fighting and are affected by every card that a duelist casts on them.
EDIT: So, Kneesocks brought up a good point. I'll quote her here. "I'm perfectly fine with cards effecting the Exile being destroyed but, how does one win exile combat? By killing the other exile? Would that not make the exile card burn and die for ever? If so I'm not sure about actually participating in exile combat if my exile is going to die. And I feel it may be hindering to others, not just as you know the hero's will never loose which makes it boring because no character will want their Exile to die, and killing them is a good way to piss off your members. Also I feel this should be addressed in the OOC" Exile combat does not, by any means, guarantee death for the exile that loses. Escape is very possible for any exile via their duelist, who can simply play their card from another location to teleport them there, or cover an escape with a spell assault. Some cards may even be used for an escape (compulsory evacuation device anyone?). As well, these are, for the most part, mythical creatures we are dealing with. they are hard to kill in the first place. Depending on where and when these fights happen, there may be other reasons for characters to retreat than defeat as well.
a coffee
I believe that, in this case, exile combat has been misunderstood. Exile combat is not as black and white as normal YGO! combat. Just because an exile has a higher ATK value in the TCG does not mean that it will even have a bearing in actual combat. Take, for example, Argentum vs. Brione. If this was ATK vs. ATK, Argentum would kill Brione in a split second. Exile fighting is much more like a normal rp fight in this event, which I will also be writing a guide on to help our less experience members in that field expand on. Cards simply augment an exile's outlook to become stronger and gain an advantage. But more often than not, an exile will escape instead of dying. EDIT: Also, I have edited Lacey's application if you want a good read. I'm looking forward to playing this one.
Wave_Sine
Question: I've been playing Sgt. Davidson as having "Exile Suppressor" cards, such as Gravity Bind, Level Limit Area B, Dragon Capture Jar, Swords of Revealing Light, Nightmare's Steelcage, etc., on the assumption that he'd be able to stop or impede an Exile battle long enough to evacuate citizens by using them. Would he actually be able to do that, especially since he doesn't have a Bound Exile of his own?

Would he actually be able to do that, especially since he doesn't have a Bound Exile of his own? Hmm... I'm gonna say yes based on the whole "wards" thing but I'm gonna clarify that one with Zai. I honestly don't see why it wouldn't work, and not to mention, visitor exiles happen, so that could always work. But like I said, as far as I'm concerned? I don't see why not. BANZAI!!!!
@sine: yeah. all of that works very well both in duels and exile combat. Although swords and steelcage would not work in combat, because they do not target monsters, level limit, gravity bind, and capture jar all will work extremely effectively. BANZAI!!!!
I'm gonna love this one. the last antagonist. Name: Arthur Mendacem Gender: Male Age: 20 Height: 6' 0" Race: Human Deck(s): Fire King Exile: Cestus (Burning Knuckler: Cestus the Meteor) Physical description: Although he is already intimidating, Arthur appears even even more so due to the intense glare he usually wears on his face. Adding to this is his short, blood-red hair and intense blue eyes. Although he is built thin, Arthur is quite muscular. He always wears a black headband around his forehead, and a black, form-fitting long sleeve shirt. Over the shirt, he wears a dark brown bomber jacket that is missing its right arm, and he wears fingerless gloves on his hands. He wears dark brown pants and black combat boots as well. His duel disk is an old battle city-era standard model. Personality: Although Arthur usually appears calm, he actually possesses a fiery rage that is constantly flaming just under the surface. He is easily angered, and at his best times, he seems grim and determined. Despite this, he rarely loses his train of thought due to his anger. Arthur actually excels at strategic thinking, which is why DIabolos selected him to lead the assault on Gaea. He enjoys the thrill of combat, but not quite to the point of his ally, Anton. He has an intense hatred for CONSNT and its monster hunters, who cast his father out of Gaea some years ago. Misc. info/fun facts: His grandfather, Tychus Mendacem was the first Director of the monster hunters, and literally wrote the book on exile combat. As a result, Arthur and Cestus are absolutely deadly in a fight. Despite their friendly relationship, Arthur sees Cestus as a tool in his fight to destroy CONSNT. Name: Cestus "The Meteor" (Burning Knuckler: Cestus the Meteor) Gender: Male Age: Unknown Height: 9' 7" Race: Exile Exile type: Bound Owner of card: Arthur Mendacem Physical description: Cestus looks exactly the same as his card art, except that he has no Number mark on his shoulder. Personality: Cestus thoroughly enjoys being on earth. Here, he can kill whoever he wants, and on some occasions he can even kill everyone in sight! While Cestus is just as dangerous as Arthur, they differ in that Cestus is almost never angry, ever. Cestus's favorite pastime is killing, bar none, and he is exceptionally good at ending lives, be it in mass or one at a time. To this end, he has willingly become Arthur's partner. Cestus is, obviously, a psychopath, and will often laugh as he kills innocents. Of course, killing other Exiles is his what he loves most, and he will jump at the chance to do so. There is only one way to anger Cestus, and that is to ruin his fun. Should you live after meeting him, you will have earned his undying hatred. Misc. info/fun facts: He killed the duelist who summoned him, and Willingly gave his card to Arthur when they met. Cestus likes Arthur, and is very friendly toward him. In fact, Arthur is really the only person Cestus considers his friend.

UPDATE: sorry about the wait, but the front page is completely up to date. I would say that swords might creat solid form of 3 swords that emit light... and could be weilded, steelcage might just create a large cage that might hamper flight/escaping? example, in a cave or other dark place, James plays swords while Amren is fighting and Amren grabs onto the swords to see better in the fight. Or if out in the open when facing a dragon, I might use steelcage to restrict the dragon's movements this sound reasonable for the cards?
a coffee
Avaren, while there is nothing technically wrong with your post, it's not exactly kosher. My hands are tied as far as stopping you entirely, but next time, try and do those kinds of moves, the gamebreakingly powerful ones, in an area where he could be refuted. Aqua Girl
Majoras as I stated I pm my opponent and vice versa and formulate our entire turns so we can post an entire turn instead of asking for a response its more efficient, so everything in the duel was allowable. Unless your talking about him going quazar then I have no say in that.

BANZAI!!!!
Avaren, while there is nothing technically wrong with your post, it's not exactly kosher. My hands are tied as far as stopping you entirely, but next time, try and do those kinds of moves, the gamebreakingly powerful ones, in an area where he could be refuted. I am of the same opinion. While you technically did not break any rules, Transforming Amren into Shooting Quasar dragon drastically shifts the balance of power. The next strongest Exile present would then be Kavulsus, who is a full 1000 points weaker. Not to mention a Quasar form provides one of the most potent ward abilities available. All of this would occur, mind you, in what is more or less equivalent to episode 1 of a tv show. Like I said, you didn't do anything wrong, but using a card that powerful seriously destabilizes things. try to refrain from that in the future. BANZAI!!!!
sounds like him. although it certainly wont win him any points. you guys do realize that cast cards only become real if they directly target an exile or another card that is targeting an exile. Lord JZ of the Enigma
hmm, that'll still work for some cases (especially Kneesocks' attempt at summoning a visitor exile...but who knows if that'll work), but not for ivy walls I guess, I'll need a different tactic then for Selina.
