Rescue Cat & Rescue Rabbit

Recommended Posts

Cat is much more restrictive design than wabbit and much more versatile. Rabbit limits how good/versatile it can be by restricting itself to vanillas, but can access the non-generic rank 4 pool, which contains broken shit like Evolzars and Plover.

Rescue Dog

EARTH / Level 4

[ Beast / Effect ]

This card cannot be Special Summoned. Once, while this card is face-up on the field: You can banish this card; Special Summon 2 Level 3 or lower __________ Monsters of the same name from your Deck. Those monsters are destroyed at the End Phase. You cannot conduct your Battle Phase the turn you activate this effect. The effect of "Rescue Dog" can only be activated once per turn.

ATK / 300 DEF / 100

Depending on the last restriction, this could be okay.

It was basically the "this card cannot be Special Summoned" that would have done the most for it.

But seriously...
Cat, by this point, would be impossible to bring back. Yes, Uniflora is a card, and so is Summoner Monk, Giant Rat, Chain Dog, etc, etc, Cat is basically doomed to never come off the list.
Rabbit, on the other hand, while the card is still bananas, it's at least not as over-the-top busted as it's earlier counterpart.

A big difference between Cat and Rabbit is that Rabbit forces you to play cards that you don't want to whereas with Cat a lot of the cards it brought out when it was around (Darksoul, Test Tiger etc) were cards you'd play anyway. Rabbit is far from good design but it's nowhere near as bad as Cat.
