Darth Revan of the Sith
[spoiler= "In Memory" Written by Me]I have been thinking for awhile on how I would type this out. I really almost don't know what to say. Yesterday I found out that famous film critic and writer Roger Ebert, died of cancer. He had been suffering from the cancer since 2004 and it seems it finally caught up with him. When I first heard of Roger I was looking at a Wikipedia article detailing the reception to one of my favorite movies. I found Roger Ebert lambasting and insulting it and I felt insulted. I said "Who does this guy think he is? It's just a movie! Geez..." little did I know at the time who this man was. Since the 1970's and on Roger Ebert had been one of the most respected film critics of all time, winning a Pulitzer prize and being the first critic of film to win a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I learned of his history and began watching his critiques more and more. Although I disagreed with him sometimes, I respected his passion for movies. Always getting excited when he saw a movie he loved and then getting angry at a movie he hated. It was then I learned the true value of movies. They weren't cheap entertainment for bystanders. They were an art form that held prestige and should be respected. It was thanks to him that I learned of the many goods and bads of movies and began to see truth in it. I became a film critic myself and I still critique film to this day. I love doing it and Roger Ebert helped me accomplish that. By reading his critiques, I came to respect and become a fan of him more and more. Unfortunately it seems an era has ended. One of the stars of At The Movies with Siskel and Ebert and later Ebert and Roeper. I was so sad when I learned of this and I still am. I know Roger wouldn't appreciate that however. He would want all of us to celebrate his life and career and continue to enjoy film the way he did. Roger you became my idol, I admired you as a film critic and respected you as a person. I will never forget what you have done for the art of film and for what you have done for thousands of fans. Film will never be the same without you. Your career has been a lively one and you have accomplished so much and for that, I think you yourself deserve Two Thumbs Up. Goodbye Roger Ebert, we will never forget you! R.I.P.
