Bioshock: Infinite

So, I finished this game a few days ago, and I can honestly say that if this doesn't win GOTY 2013 almost everywhere, there is something horrendously wrong with the world.

Has anyone else here played it? If so, what do you think?

There's an article about the issues with the game, so until I play Watch_Dogs and The Last of Us, I'd rather not give it anything.

Currently my top 2 games are this and Fire Emblem Awakening.

This game was absolutely amazing. And I mean seriously amazing, if it doesn't get some kind of award, I don't know what's wrong with the gaming world.

As for the ending, well I won't spoil much in case people haven't played it, but whew, serious Inception bomb right there.

P.S. Apologies that I bumped the thread after a month of no activity, but I absolutely have to talk about this game. o.O

Also, I really have to say this, even though I kind of know the answer: during the ending, did anyone else get a strange sensation of satisfying confusion?

I really have to be subtle here because I don't want to spoil the ending for anyone, but I was literally in tears when I saw what happened to Anna and all that.

I expect it to win at least a few GOTY awards, but keep in mind there are plenty of big titles that have yet to be released.  The next Mario game for instance, will be a strong contender.  (Or at least I expect it to be after playing Galaxy)

The game throws a lot out at you at the end and you're kind of forced to accept that it's all fine.

There's several issues with the game both gameplay-wise and story-wise when you think about it later, however.

Though, I must say, it's one of the best games I played in a long time and is contending with Fire Emblem for my favorite game this year.

Admittedly, there are an abundance of games that will be competing for GOTY 2013 - among which Tomb Raider and The Last of Us come to mind. But, story-wise, no other game has yet made me feel as Bioshock Infinite; in fact, it felt a hell of a lot like Inception in its story...

As for the several issues, I do understand that there are some problems with gameplay - I didn't notice many and it was fun but I still saw some problems. As for the story, it's basically the same argument that Inception had - many people both love the ending and hate it because it's so confusingly beautiful. I can't say it more basically than that.

Tomb Raider is one of those games that everyone raves about that's actually not as good.

...and the Last of Us hasn't even come out yet.

And the ending is completely different from Inception. Exhibit A of infinite articles: http://www.gameranx.com/features/id/14595/article/there-s-always-a-man-there-s-always-a-city-the-metanarrative-of-bioshock-infinite/

I didn't actually mean that Bioshock Infinite = Inception, I meant the ending gives a very similar vibe that a lot of Christopher Nolan movies do. You know, the big, thematic, cliffhanger kind of ending - if it can be said so. Actually, this ending reminds me a lot more of The Prestige, if you've watched it (also a Nolan film, amazingly done).

As for the Last of Us, I'm saying that we know that the developers are good, as noted with the entirety of the Uncharted series, so I am predicting that it will be good.

As for Tomb Raider, I have to confess that I haven't played it, so I'm only going with what reviewers are saying - so I don't personally know.

Gameplay-wise it's definitely nothing too out of the ordinary. As far as Shockstyle games go, I would say that Dishonored makes for a far more compelling game in and of itself. I don't see the story as particularly flawed, though.
