Alice Moonflowyr
On A Pale Horse is a story by Piers Anthony. It is the first in the series of novels called the Incarnations of Immortality. Each novel is standalone as well though, so I'll be doing a seperate review for each one. Pale Horse follows the story of our protaganist Zane who, deeming his life pointless, decides to kill himself. When Death comes to take him, he does a double-take and shoots Death in the face. Zane, upon murdering Death, is forced to assume the office of Death. He meets the four other Incarnations, Chronos, the Incarnation of Time, Clothos, Lachesis, and Atropos, who are the Aspects of the Incarnation of Fate, Gaea, the Incarnation of Nature, and Mars, the Incarnation of War. The antagonist of the story is none other than the Father of Lies himself, Satan, the Incarnation of Evil. The story of Pale Horse is extremely well done with exceptional characters and a very well-designed world where science and magic coexist. Each Incarnation is unique in their job, with their various personality quirks and those of the office, such as Death being invincible unless he gets careless, Fate having her three different minds in one body, and the other Incarnations have various quirks as well. This book gets a 5/5 rating. A mandatory read for anyone who enjoys fantasy.

Alice Moonflowyr
lolwut... you can kill Death? Yep. In this. You kill the Incarnation of Death when he comes to take your soul, and you have to become the new Death. But Death is invincible unless he's careless.
