So yeah, this is what I went with.  I didn't want to make it a "Mermail" monster because then it just becomes even more versatile, but a 2100 beat-stick that can get around some Xyz should be decent enough to see play, no?

I always thought "Abyss-" was only for S/T, and monsters were all like "Abyssblah". Discard effect gets used only once. I think it's okay if it's a Mermail and 2100 is also really fine, it's decently balanced IMO. Thunder King clause is kind of worrying because non-Xyz monsters find it a little harder to get to 2100, but it shouldn't really be that much of a problem.

 

The picture looks a lot more like an Atlantean than a Mermail to me though.

Evidently the title was a joke, for I'm of the opinion that Mermails don't need any more support than we've got currently.  *ahem* Moving on, perhaps it was, but it fits the theme and like I said I'm not big on the idea of making another Mermail that's fetchable by Sphere, Squall, and all the other shit they've got.

 

2100 means it can take down some stuff, but I think it's a solid counter to Rabbit and the likes because it can slow down their extreme over-extending and mindless pluses by forcing you to go into an Xyz just to get this off the field, or use removal on it that means your bigger stuff will be able to come out without a problem.

Of course it could, but like I said the problem comes from the fact that 2100 isn't a number to mess around with, especially early game.  This thing gets over Thunder King as well as Geargiarmor and plenty of other things while at the same time triggering an Atlantean/Mermail effect.  On top of that, once it's been used up, you still have the negation, so it's just difficult to play around, I think.

 

I was going for something that was balanced, but not abuseable, and I'd like to think that while it does lack in some areas, it's pretty much met that goal.
