Fire Fist(IRL)

Recommended Posts

Needs less Tengu and less duality.  Needs more gorilla and more starlight.  Also could use a horn or two.

Tengu is an amazing floater that helps make sure you can XYZ into Tiger King. He also laughs at removal. I'd play three if I could. Gorilla at 2 is fine. I rarely search him, and if I ever need him, I can tutor him. Starlight is garbage except against Storm, I rarely have more than one monster on field. HotPB is worse than the FF traps in here, and the FF traps aren't that good.

>Horn

>bad

*Does not compute*

Also, your deck isn't floaters.dek, it's fire fists, which are a powerful control engine.  He doesn't work in there at all.  I've tried.  Starlight is far from garbage with 2 TT, 2 MF, Dark hole, and, of course, heavy all in the same format.

Once your opponent knows you are playing Fire Fist, they are going to be able to read the trap boosts, especially the Fire Formations. Horn only works on a single monster, and you get to draw 1 card. Big deal, Tensen is better because it boosts a single by 1000 which is more important because it helps you hit more important ATK thresholds with Bear, namely 2600 against Mermails(instead of 2400 which horn does). On top of that, it allows you to use Bear/Gorilla/Dragons effects. Tenken is a better 1-of in this deck, because immunity to Dark Hole, Torrential, etc can be clutch, and can force your opponent .

I dont even like using the FF traps because even though they can be good, a good opponent can play around them. Not saying Horn is garbage, but in this deck Horn is slightly worse.

Tengu gives this deck the ability to keep board presence, and can set up a two turn XYZ play into Tiger King/Dweller/ etc etc. Tengu either makes them waste removal to summon a second copy, forces them to make an awkward niche play like Chidori so I don't get his effect, or they let him stay on board so I have a 1700+ body. Oh right, he gets all the boosts too, so if you have a boost up, he becomes a bigger problem, and forces the removal...but wait, you get your second copy! So now they have to use either another piece of removal, or summon a dude that can run over it...problem is I run boosts like Tensen, can lance their monster or traps like D-Prison and Bottomless that removes your monster. In the roughly 50 games I've played so far, I've opened double Tengu 0 times. Tengu rounds the deck out, synergizes with the whole deck, and requires attention, so that your Bear/Gorilla/Dragon plays all go through. He isn't strictly a floater, he's a problem for your opponent.

Starlight Road is bad, I rarely summon two monsters on board, unless I have to make an XYZ play or if I summon rabbit. I'm not so worried about running into Torrential if I'm forced into an XYZ play, because the threat I have to deal would be also swept away. Once you learn how to read Torrential, it becomes a lot less of a problem. Its rare that my opponent Dark Holes my 2+ monster board because I rarely am in that situation, bar some fringe plays where I have to clear their board, and then cant XYZ into something. Also, I run 2 Lance, Tenken to protect my important monsters from Mirror/Torrential/Dark Hole and force them to use it. I see some merit because it protects your backrow from Storm, but when I did test Starlight, it resolved twice against Storm. Its frustrating to get Starlight after they storm, and even more so, see them MST/Marksman/Gorilla/Dust Tornado and then storm. When I did play starlight road, I always sided it out games 2 and 3.

Nin-Ken dog is terrible. Id rather play Vorse Raider, to be honest.

I haven't really wanted double vanillas though, because that increases bad openings. I rarely draw Double GWWW before I see a rabbit, so its not much of an issue. If I resolve 1 Rabbit, then I dont really need another. Later the dead rabbit can be summoned to make a rank 4 along side Tensu.

Chidori is neat though.

I know Vorse definitely has its benefits (although from what I understand DDV is usually not worth it given that you want to focus on Tiger King and at that point you're relying on drawing a single card or going Black Corn in order to be able to use it).

With that being said, a lot of the builds that I've seen go Warwolf/Ken Dog and Chidori does make for some crazy plays.  I play Inzektors myself and I got absolutely destroyed by FF when they Chidori'd my Ladybug to the bottom of the Deck.

They have a really good grasp on control elements which Chidori only adds to.  But I can understand your logic, too.
