PS4

Legend Zero

Recommended Posts

Well, that's ONE fear down the drain. Now the ONLY thing that bugs me is the lack of backwards compatibility.

Otherwise, this'll be the mother-of-all-consoles.

Neither PS3 nor PSN titles will be available on PS4.

Most PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSN titles will hopefully be available for purchase on the cloud within it's lifecycle.

I have a PS3, so honestly, I have literally no problems with this in the slightest.

The port probably wont be, but I'm still gonna buy it for Wii U since I have no current interest in PS4, and I'm primarily a console gamer.

What does the Wii U have at the moment of interest that got you to be like "Well that's my next console of choice"? Right now I'm seeing Killzone, Knack, inFAMOUS, MM's new game and Watch_Dogs (as my PC has no way of being able to play that). The only game on the Wii U that I am interested in is Rayman Legends, but that's coming out on PS3 and Xbox as well. There's no games already released that would make me want a Wii U. NSMB U is just NSMB Wii all over again with *gasp* a new suit! Zombie U sucked, and what other games does it have right now? Not anything I can remember, so yeah already a lot more titles that look like system sellers on an unreleased system than on a system that is already around 4 months in. I'm not saying that there's nothing about that system that isn't good, but right now the system is just meh to me. But if that's your system of choice for the next gen, let it be, it's just the old Playstation fanboy in me raging out.

aren't PSN titles actually tied into your account? I don't really remember, but if that's the case, they could probably run on the next system. I mean, it has Move features, so it should also be able to play any PSN game if you wanted to.

I got a Wii U because Smash Bros, future Zelda, Rayman (f--kin delay), and Pikmin 3. Got it for Christmas so I can't complain. But not much about PS4 interests me too much yet, I'm still looking for more info at E3. Since I already own a Wii U, may as well get it for that versus a system I don't know everything about. I'm looking forward to more info on PS4 and will most likely get it sometime after it comes out. I greatly enjoy bot Nintendo and Playstation. I wouldn't call Wii U my system of choice yet, but I know I have a lot of fun with it so far.

I too have one, but it still kinda gets me.

Meh. Oh well.

Microsoft won't do it since Sony didn't. They'll probably allow backwards compatibility for a limited number of 360 games like the 360 did for the original Xbox.

As for Watch_Dogs, I SERIOUSLY hope you're not implying that the WiiU port will be any bit as good as the PS4 or PC version :<

It may not be as good, but if it's coming to a system I actually like and own, I'll go with that. If the PS3 version is better… No, Sony would probably get more money that way, so screw that.

Since when were you under the impression Sony didn't make Capcom look like Jesus?

I wonder why people get so upset over such little things, it's not a big deal, just keep your PS3 people!

Yeah, seriously Roxas. Your hate is honestly, really unwarranted.

MOST systems that have come out don't have backwards compatibility.

And I'm worried about the WiiU. If it can barely handle Assassin's Creed 3, I don't want to think about how poorly it'll handle something like Watch_Dogs.

If the game can be played on PS3 and Xbox, it probably can on Wii U.

The hardware can probably handle it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't ported to WiiU. Watch_Dogs was made with PS4 in mind, and interviews suggest that the game has been optimized better on the PS4. PS3/360 ports mainly exist to widen the audience without too much trouble. I wouldn't be surprised if the WiiU was barely announced when they started developing Watch_Dogs.

If it's going to something like how BO2 was made for Wii U this makes a lot of sense.

Personally I've only experienced consoles that do, all of Nintendo's line is back wards compatible.  (Wii-Gamecube, DS-GA) the PS3 is a major graphic step up from the PS2 so I can understand why it wasn't compatible.  I suppose it will be acceptable for the PS4 aswell, provided it is a major step-up in gaming consoles.  I really want to see what else it can put on the table before I make any pre-meditated judgments.

Oh, I know I'm being very petty.

The Wii U and the 3DS had backwards compatibility from Day 1. I suppose that might be what's holding Nintendo back, given that they limit their systems to being able to play older games, but the fact is that this is even worse than the Vita's lack of backwards compatibility. At least the Vita would let you use the games you downloaded on the PSP.

And yes, Watch_Dogs is confirmed for the Wii U, but it was only announced after the PS4 conference.

Early PS3s were compatiable, but they took it out for some reason, probably to resell them on PSstore. Is to be excepted I suppose.

On an unrelated note, I like how they are actually showing mostly games here. Not like how Nintendo is all about their community thing and less about the games. I like that, keep doing that. Focus on the games. I buy a video GAME console because I want to play games. And of course I want other features, I'm buying a $400-500 system here I need something else, but at it's core it's about the games, and they kept talking about all these partical effects all other stuff I got no idea what means, so they focus on the tech a lot, and that makes me happy.

Is Watch_Dogs even coming to the WiiU? Last I heard, it's going to be ported to PC/PS3/360.

It is.

The hardware can probably handle it

Barely...

I was referring to everything back to the NES.

Nah, what's holding Nintendo back is having a Gen 7-level System in the Gen 8 world

The Wii U is just a bit stronger than the PS3.  However, the Wii U did have a few problems with the ports of a couple games like Batman: Arkham City and Assassin's Creed 3. So a port of a game like Watch Dogs may be equal, or could be slightly better or worse.

It's still a new console, and porting probably isn't that easy to do on a totaly new console.

The main problem is that porting to the WiiU is going to be equivalent to porting a PS2 game to an N64.

Though that comparison may be off by a bit.

Also, I'd like to note that the next Xbox is also rumored not to have backwards compatibility.

See, it's this kind of thing that causes unwarranted fanboy hate.

The difference is more comparable to Xbox vs PS2, or at worst Xbox vs Dreamcast.

Also,

So it's not as bad as you're implying.

I disagree.

Anyway, we haven't even seen Watch_Dogs running on the actual PS4 System, since that was just the PC architect it was based around. Can't wait to see how it'll turn out.

It isn't unwarranted. We know what the problem is with the WiiU already because it's out, rather than all the speculation hate that's come at the PS4.

I think you better check them, may have slipped on you again.

I'm more a Nintendo fanboy than I am a sony fanboy, but you can believe what you want.

I really like the WiiU, but I can't deny when it has some issues.

I don't deny that it has issues, but you're in straight up troll mode.  The launch ports were simply lazy.  Again, look at Need For Speed.  It's a noticeable step up from the PS360 versions.

The Wii U's issues are its advertising and the lack of a system-seller at launch.  They completely dropped the ball with both.
