Kyng's Old Account
I won't hate on the franchise. I'm actually intrigued and might potentially get into it, but being a newbie means I can't really contribute that much! ^^;
Admiral Tim
Wait, they just released Giants over the summer? Are they already done re-realeasing all the figures?
Tentacruel
This game is becoming CoD, sheesh. I have Giants, and I haven't really delved into it yet, but it's fun stuff. If this came out when I was 10, I would have lost my mind.

Spellcaster2000
When you think about it, its a huge gimmick and money grab. Reminds you of the game that came out when we were 10....coughPokemoncough If it was a money grab, they'd sell gift cards in your local supermarket with codes to get a character. What people don't realize, in my opinion, is that when a game like Skylanders is made, they're risking a LOT of money creating the game and all of the figures and such for SOMETHING. A lot of kids are probably content with just the starter pack A lot of parents will stop buying these for kids after the starter pack (or not at all unless it's Christmas), making a lot of money just go down the drain. Skylanders succeeded, but if it was just a scheme to grab money, they wouldn't have risked creating expensive figures. Also, a Skylanders figure and a normal action figure, in some cases, are around the same price. And Skylanders figures are quite well made, too. I rest my case. Anyway, I picked up Giants on the 3DS yesterday. Gonna update the list of Swap Force figures because I missed some. As much as I like Stealth Elf, there is now 4 of her (Series 1, Series 2, Series 2 Legendary, Series 3). Come on people. At least don't do the same with Spyro. The skylanders figures have not joints and cant swivel and really are purely aesthetic beyond the actual game. And many parents can't deny their child skylanders if they go crazy over it in public. the whole thing is a huge gimmick.

Most action figures nowadays are cheap rubbish sold at non-cheap prices. I just learned that my Dark Spyro is actually worth more than the regular £8 :)

Anyways I wouldn't even class the figures as action toys more just specialized game extensions.

Tentacruel
Basically, the game is Activision figuring out how to release a game with literately hundreds of dollars worth of on-disk DLC. That's what they are, DLC, only not.
Spellcaster2000
OK I'm convinced. Nevertheless, this gimmick has won me over :)
