During your opponent's Main Phase: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard to target 1 face-up Effect monster your opponent controls; negate that target's effects until the End Phase.

 

 

Target 1 face-up monster on the field; until the End Phase, it gains 400 ATK, but its effects are negated .

All of them have their own unique advantages that make them still playable in the metagame except Chalice, Fiendish Chain stops attacks, Veiler is a hand trap and can be used as a monster and Breakthrough Skill is versatile and gets an effect when milled. Chalice is pretty obsolete.

I kinda figured that Chalice would be obsolete with the coming of Breakthrough Skill, but that surpricing mechanic of being able to activate during the damage step has gotten the better of me from time to time. That's why I'm still putting it in the bunch :P

Chalice was an amazing card last format, but it's more or less faded out of obscurity for now.  The only way I could see it making a prominent return in future formats is if we get more Barbaros-esque cards that make for solid combo plays, but even then.

Divine Wrath, and to a lesser extent, Powersink Stone.

 

Divine Wrath works pretty well as a side in Spellbooks.

@Newhat - Veiler is a Searchable Spellcaster .-. and Wrath is a -1....

Sometimes it's better to put a Reaper, Stoic or Temperance in the Graveyard at -1 than it is to pray for a chance to Normal Summon it. Also Veiler is a -1  and doesn't stop several major threats (not that Wrath stops alll of them either).

I'm somewhat partial to breakthrough skill if only because I'm obsessed with solidarity decks.

Otherwise, I use chain in things that are heavy in traps anyway and Aliens, Veiler in basically everything, and Breakthrough where I can only have specific monsters in the grave/I'm milling a lot.
