magemeek22
5 New Spellcaster Support Cards: Traditional Spellcaster-type monsters don't get a lot of support in the current meta, and are particularly hard to sustain. They drain the hand quickly, have limited staying power, and are often undermined by other archetypes that exploit their effects to destroy Spellcaster decks. One of the most promising Spellcaster-type decks, however, with the exceptions of the "Prophecy"s, are the Spell Counter-based cards. They have support, and they have decent abilities/swarming power with good Spell cards and a decent hand; however, they are as vulnerable to opponent card effects as any other Spellcaster deck. Thus, with the intention of changing this, or at least helping solve this issue, I thought of 5 unique cards that center around providing Spell Counters to Spellcaster-type monsters as well as helping protect them from the opponent's card effects. Card 1: Incantation of Protection This card is relatively simple. It provides blanket immunity for a turn, so cards with Spell Counters on them are safe (hint hint Magical Exemplar). It helps keep cards on the field long enough for them to be fully useful. Card 2: Incantation of Furor This card, unlike the aforementioned "Incantation," is a lot more complex and thorough. Basically, instead of preventing destruction, it provokes it; every Spellcaster-type monster that is destroyed in a turn comes back to bite the opponent, and if they do not have enough cards to be destroyed, the Spellcasters re-summon themselves. Unlike "Incantation of Protection," the Spellcasters are not saved from the Graveyard, but instead use their weaknesses to their advantage, clearing the opponent's field or swarming yours. Card 3: Perpetual Blessing of the High Mages If there is one card that the Spell Counter Spellcasters could benefit from, it is this one card. Basically, all it does it re-activate whenever a monster is summoned. That said, since it is a Spell Card, every time it re-activates, it can potentially add Spell Counters on to applicable cards/monsters. It sets in motion a powerful chain of events that keeps Spell Counters on the field, which can add a new threat to Spellcasters that has not yet been seen. Card 4: Sanctity of Endymion This is another relatively simple card; it's basically a "Defender the Magical Knight" but stronger and more demanding. For the cost of 2 Spell Counters - which can be easily paid thanks to "Perpetual Blessing," the destruction of a Spellcaster is prevented. It provides great protection but can be countered by the opponent; thus, it is ideal to have in Spellcaster-type decks. Card 5: Ancient Library of the High Mages This card is extremely simple, but once again, great in its power. It basically lets you transfer Spell Counters from card to card; the potential of this effect with monsters like "Magical Marionette", "Maiden of Macabre", or "Frequency Magician" and Spells like "Spellbook Star Hall" can annihilate your opponent. Thus, do not be fooled by its simple effect; it can very well win games. As always, comments and suggestions are much appreciated! BUMP!
