Honestly I don't feel I should have to justify why to any of you but I suppose people will be pushing me to so what the hell. I like the Twilight series because of cultural separation, universal diversity, and portrayal of certain creatures. I like the fact she distinguishes different forms of Government among each species. The Vampires have a totalitarian sect dedicated to keeping order among the Vampire races, even to extreme lengths to prove a point. I like the Volturi as I find them a perfect example of an organization dedicated to good and yet does evil in the end. I like the tribal atmosphere of the Werewolves and their symbolism as a conflict between America and the Native Americans. I like the way Vampires were portrayed. They were no longer a brooding and dark species dedicated to blood sucking and death. They became a sculpture, a piece of art. They would light up like diamonds in sunlight, also known as "Sparkling". Some people find that stupid but I find it to be an interesting interpretation of an overused species of creatures in Literature. What are your opinions on the series YCM? My sister and my mum have read the books and I've seen the movies. They loved the books, and if the movies are anything to go by then they are mediocre at best. But I still haven't read the books. That movie could've expanded upon a few things, but it was awesome nevertheless. Also, the reactions from the audience in the theater were highly amusing. a bad post Posted January 31, 2013 Report Share Posted January 31, 2013 I agree with Lujan they get far to much hate, I personally wasn't a fan of the series because people were all its the next Vampire Dairies (at least at my school they were), and I am a huge fan of Vampire Dairies (~<3 just Damon nothing more needs to be said), so that kind of put off to it. Also I just felt that the characters were too bland. I didn't watch the movies, because I'm not a fan of the actress who plays Bella, I feel she just doesn't show emotion. Which is funny, because from what little I know about both series, they suck. That, and they're different genres, which is like comparing Fist of the North Star to Archie. Bella was a mediocre character IMHO, but everyone else was nicely done, especially Alice, who is definatly my favorite character. I didnt really pay attention to the fact that vampires sparkle. I always remember Eclipse as "the one where I can't remember anything that happened". Eventually I dimly recall the plot, but it takes some effort. Breaking Dawn, on the other hand I have great respect for. It jumped the shark - always a move I can respect - and it also made me feel an emotion. Twice, I think. I was even excited once.
