.Rai
http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/arcana/1156Summary:Prerelease- You enter the prerelease choosing a guild: you get a guild pack of that guild containing 4 Dragon's Maze booster packs, 1 prerelease pack of the guild you chose & 1 prerelease pack of another undisclosed guild that shares a colour with the guild you chose. The prerelease packs are the same as the ones from Return to Ravnica/Gatecrash.- You get 1 prerelease alt-art promo card. This card will not be playable in your Prerelease deck.- The gimmick of the prerelease is: There's also a maze! Players (that's you) will work collectively to advance their chosen guild through the Implicit Maze each round. There are prizes for each guild that gets all the way through the maze, and special prizes for the first guild that does it. And when the maze is completed, all participating players will receive a premium (foil) basic land promo card!Set- There will be no basic land slot in Dragon's Maze.- Instead, that slot will be replaced with a nonbasic land: Either 1 of the 10 Guildgates, with a Dragon's Maze set symbol......1 of the 10 shocklands, with either a Return to Ravnica or Gatecrash set symbol......or a mystery Mythic land.- The Guildgates are part of the 156 cards of Dragon's Maze. They have been reprinted, with the Dragon's Maze set symbol.- Shocklands are not part of the 156 cards of Dragon's Maze. While they will appear in the booster packs, it will only be in that last nonbasic land slot, and are otherwise unobtainable in the rest of the booster pack. Flame Dragon
The pack coming with guild packs from RTR and GTC is really sweet since normally you just get normal old packs of the old set. Plus I take it this means you will be seeing 3 guilds per deck. Going to need to figure out what the best choice will be with that in mind. Getting free shocklands seems sweet. Having the Gates be basic lands makes the land slot relevant now. The Maze side thing seems fun.

On another note, this sounds like it will be alot of fun, have to be sure to hold back money to go this one as I've already been to RtR and GTC prelease[1 each]. Already know which guild I am going for don't care what they get, I am going Golgari period :D
Miror B
Does the shockland take up the rare though? If it doesn't, sweet. If it does, still sweet but not so much.

I don't think it would as its not really part of the set. As the article says it can only be obtained from the nonbasic land slot which is replacing the basic land slot. Simping For Hina
The Shockland is not part of the set at all. It is only set in the Dragon's Maze normal packs, taking up the nonbasic land slot in the pack itself. The lands will have the set symbols from GTC and RTR. Already know which guild I am going for don't care what they get, I am going Golgari period :D Well you can plan. I'd figure G/B, G/W, and W/B over all play well together. Same for W/B B/R R/W The Shockland is not part of the set at all. It is only set in the Dragon's Maze normal packs, taking up the nonbasic land slot in the pack itself. The lands will have the set symbols from GTC and RTR. To add a little more info, the odds of pulling a shock is half that of RTR and GTC. So I'd say its 1/24. If this is some roundabout way of answering my question then do note that I am relatively new to Magic so being vague doesn't help in the slightest. So no, it doesn't take up the rare slot.
